S-N-O-W

Well, looks like another giant snowstorm :D :D :D :D Today has been wonderful!

Last time we had, what? sevenish inches? This time we have TEN INCHES OF SNOW!!!!!!! Last time we had, how many? five families come to our street to sled? This time we have TWELVE FAMILIES!!!!!!! WOOT!! One of the best parts about snow is getting together to share the experience with friends--and lots of hot chocolate!

My church never cancels, but we didn't expect a lot of people to show up. We actually ended up with thirty-nine people, though! Worship was really laid back and kind of impromptu. It was great; everyone was a bit hyper, grown-ups included :)

After church, we came home and had lunch, then chilled for a while before going to play in the snow. I didn't really feel like playing in the snow, but I was planning to go anyway. That is, until I fell asleep on the couch. I must have been tireder than I thought. I slept for about an hour before waking up to find everyone gone to play in the snow. (I do remember my mom telling me that sometime...LOL, I was really out, okay?)

I felt so much better after the nap, and I got dressed and ran to end of the street. Even more people than yesterday! Everything was perfect. Sunny, no wind, and the Hill was seriously packed down and slick. The sleds flew! I didn't get cold once, and ended up taking off my coat (not the Soft Jacket, my actual COAT :P) and gloves.

It.
Was.
Awesome.

Pictures for proof (captions on the BOTTOM [I usually put them on the top])!

The boys race!Katie and Kaitlin sledding!Matt wipes out XDMaddie getting ready to sled. (I sometimes babysit for her and her brother, Ryan. Maybe you remember hearing about them?)My dad and Joey. Joey is blind and autistic, but so much fun XDLizzy :)Ryan, Maddie's older brother.Maddie and Licky XDMy mom in the red, Mr. Leon (Matt and Katie's dad), and then Matt.

Picture Day: Sol

(I had this post prepared last night, but Blogger wasn't letting me post it. So, here's the post for yesterday; today's post coming later :D)

Yes, I realize that using a picture of a character and then talking about the character is cheating for Picture Day. Deal with it ;P I'm too into these guys right now to quit.

Hair color: very dark brown
Hair style: short, slightly curly
Eye color: brown

Build: athletic

Character Day: Ashlyn

Name: Ashlyn Sophie Bricker
Age: 16
Birthday: July 18th
Hair color: very dark brown
Hair style: long, straight, straight bangs
Eye color: murky blue-green
Height: 5'8"
Build: athletic
Loves: action
Hates: goody-goodies
Strength: passion and persuasion

There's a lot of information about Ashlyn, but the most important thing about this Child of God? That's not something any standard fill-out asks.

God-given power: prophecy

Some people don't believe God still gives out "real" gifts. Tell that to Ashlyn and her twin brother, Solomon. While you're at it, tell their friends Aden and Skye, too. They might disagree.

The Dark Side of Power
In a fallen world, can God show His glory through four chosen teenagers?

Stay tuned for more character clips from my latest project ;)

Advice Day

EDIT: Oh my gosh! OH MY GOSH! I have 100 followers?????????? :O

Made. My. Day.

Y'all have no idea how much I've wanted to get to 100, and had doubts of whether I would. Thank you SO MUCH nascar_38_2! You are amazing. Wow. Thank you.

(Wow...)

Now for the original post...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hai.
Sorry, I know, I haven't posted since Sunday. I missed Fact or Fiction Day, AND Memory Day D: Monday was sort of HORRIBLE, so I didn't feel like posting, and then yesterday I was too busy being tired and Skyping XD
Right now, I've knocked out three of six subjects for the day! I should feel happier than I do. I'm not really happy about it. I think it's because debate is one of the subjects I still have to do, and that's a really big job.
We've had five weeks to prepare for this debate, but anyone who knows me will tell you that giving me lots of prep time doesn't really help. Let's just say I'm a fan of the group, "SWEET! My homework is due in a week, that gives me 6 days to relax." XD
Also, I might be just a TEENSIE bit *gasp* NERVOUS about this debate. (Yus, me, nervous about arguing.) We had a debate meeting last Thursday. The affirmative went off and worked together, and then negative (I'm negative) went off to work together. Apparently most of the affirmative's discussion centered around how to take me down D:
At first I thought the guy was kidding when he told me that, but he was serious O.o Great, thanks, guys. FEELING THE LOVE.
Although, I guess part of me has to be flattered that they consider me such a worthy/scary opponent >:D As well they should. I don't care that I've done barely anything these five weeks to prepare. My partner Jessie and I are gonna rock our opponents' worlds and come out on top.
Heh, I'm not competitive or anything... >.>
Well, I know today was Advice Day, so I guess I should leave you with something at least philosophical. Hmm...okay, how's this?
Be careful when you try to psych someone out in a debate. It might just make them stronger than before >:D
God Day
1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
Character Day: Cosa and Degan
Today has been arguably better than yesterday, and...um, actually, I kinda don't really wanna talk about it.
So, Character Day:
Say hello to my WIP (Work In Progress) twins! I made up the names a long time ago (last February, I posted about 'em HERE and HERE), but they came back to me a couple of days ago. Will they ever amount to anything? It's hard to say, but for right now, they have my full attention!
Apparently I had a plot idea back in February, but that remains to be remembered. It can't have been THAT good then, right? XD
I still don't have a story to stick these two twins in, but they're working on it. In math, I had an idea for a story called "Castles and Cottages" (working title), and I came up with a couple of ideas for it. Maybe Cosa and Degan belong there? *shrug* We'll see.
Cosa
Not a typical Kendra Main Girl Character. For the most part, my characters are strong-willed, kick-butt, pretty and out to break the rules for the greater good. Cosa breaks the stereotypical Kendra Mold.
While she's very clever and not exactly one to go with the flow, she's quieter. Her style is quiet and unassuming, her voice is low. She's stubborn, but more likely to try to change herself than persuade others to change.
Degan
Degan is my attempt at a non-Kendra-stereotypical guy. I've always felt like than in literature lately, the guy twin is the quieter one, the more passive one. I think that was an attempt to break the original stereotype of guys being the louder and more aggressive. However, that original stereotype has been broken, and now there's a NEW stereotype: the guy is the quieter one.
Well, Degan speaks for the twins. He and Cosa are really close, but I guess their relationship and personalities kind of fit the original stereotype...but since that stereotype was broken, does that still make them stereotypical...?
Have I confused you? 'Cause I think I've confused myself XD (Actually, no, that was just being polite. I'm actually not confused. But I am COLD -_-)
Whatever. More about Degan. He is...a bit wild and rash and protective of Cosa. He has a soft spot for little kids, and hates spiders.
(I did NOT just make all that up on the spot... >.>)
Anyway, that was a very jumbled Character Day! Hope you found it worth reading XD
Advice Day
Ready for my supreme knowledge?
"Don't get behind in math." ~Kendra Logan
-_- It will kill you dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway. Today was...extremely unproductive and just generally cruddy, but then at the same time it was fun... I messed around most of the day, then did math.

I was woefully behind. I mean, I had been keeping up with the work, but not with the understanding. I'm terrible at math. I'm in algebra 1 AGAIN -_- I don't ever seem to understand even the simplest things. Thanks to Cavender and Kyle for trying to help. Ish XD My mom and dad did eventually clear things up for me.

Then, my ulcer started getting worse. Um, AGAIN. I've been battle the stupid mouth-blister for a week now. It's a literal pain to eat, a literal pain to smile, a literal pain to laugh, talk, and all the other things I do a lot (apparently).

Also, I found out ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE news about my driver's ed certificate. We'd been calling the department of Non-Public Education to send me a form I need to get my permit. We've called four times, and they still haven't sent my form. Well, today my dad finally got a hold of a non-machine person and guess what?

We apparently aren't in the records. And to get your permit form mailed to you, that means your school has to have been set up for at least six months. Know what that means?

I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET MY PERMIT UNTIL I'M AT LEAST SIXTEEN AND A HALF. AND THEN I CAN'T GET MY LICENSE TILL A YEAR AFTER THAT. I WILL BE
SEVENTEEN AND A FREAKING HALF BY THE TIME I GET A LICENSE.

Does that suck or what?

Yeah. It sucks.

But then, on the other hand, I've had so much fun with my friends today (all online, LOL), that today really wasn't bad at all. Weird, huh? Well, I mean, I guess not really...

Okay, my thoughts are very scattered today/right now. I guess I'll leave you now :)

Truth Revealed and Kendra's First Boyfriend XD

Haha, wow, awesome response to the last post! Thanks for guessing, y'all!

Now, the truth revealed:

Does Kendra like death metal?

For the record, 6/9 followers answered FACT.

Answer:
Heck yes XD FACT.

Congratulations to Izori, kinda JT (I think your answer was cheating ;) :P), Katie G, Tunafish, Cavender (duh ;P), and Milli!

I really don't know why I like death metal. Maybe it's the rebel in me, maybe it's the fact that it almost takes talent to appreciate in itself, maybe it's the fact that lots of metal is in a minor key (something I LOVE). *shrug* I really don't know, but for whatever reason, yes: Kendra likes death metal :)

Well, today is Memory Day. What memory shall I tell you on this wonderful Tuesday?

Ah, I got it. A preschool memory. They're always fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, so, I had this boyfriend in preschool.
His name was Jared, he was half African American, and he was very, very good looking. He was fun, funny, and liked to play pretend games with me, or at the very least would put up with it for my sake.
The day I remember most with him was the day the kids in my class mailed our Father's Day cards. All twenty-ish of us got in a line and got to walk (with the teachers, of course) to the post office a couple of blocks over to mail our cards. I had on a red, yellow, and black plaid, pleated skirt that I loved :) Jared and I held hands, skipping, and pretended that we were walking to college. We thought all the big, old buildings around looked like colleges.
Yeah, he was pretty awesome. He was one of the few kids at preschool that I actually liked. -.- To put it mildly, I did not care for some of the kids, especially this girl named Maria.
Maria was always kinda mean, and she especially was to me. She thought she was SO GORGEOUS, but I didn't particularly think so. One day, picture day at preschool, she came up to me in her flouncy little dress and said, "I'm prettier than you are."
I tried to play it off, but even as four-year-old tomboy, the remark hurt me a lot. I really liked my dress, and I had thought I looked nice.
Things got worse the next day. Jared came up to me during playtime and said (I can hear his voice to this day):
"I'm sorry, Kendra, I've got a new girlfriend now."
Cue the *dun dun dunnnnnn* music.
And from perfectly behind him, just like in a bad movie, MARIA stepped out.
Of all the people to be replaced by! *huff* Even as a four-year-old I wasn't much for being dissed ;) I remember being more mad than sad, but I did cry a little at home that day, LOL!
:) Thank you for joining us for a Kendra's Way-More-Vivid-Than-Any-Four-Year-Old-Should-Be-Able-To-Remember Memory.
If you'd still listen to advice from a nut job like me, stick around tomorrow for Advice Day ;)
God's New Year's Resolution
The New Year is here, and with it come all those fabulous new ideas to make us, our lives, and our futures better.
AKA, New Year's Resolutions.
Now, I don't want to generalize this too much; maybe some of you actually DO follow through on your resolutions. Maybe some of you actually stop cracking your knuckles, lose weight, make healthier choices, finish your novel, and train your puppy. Maybe it's just me that does wonderfully for two or three weeks and then forgets all about her promises.
Or maybe some of you know what I mean ;)
We as humans fall short of perfection, and so naturally, our goals and determination will fall short as well, but...
...what if God were like that?
What if God had led the Israelites out of Egypt, but then after a few years of mess-ups on their part decided that it was too much of a hassle to keep an eye on them?
What if God had originally intended to forgive us all, but somewhere around WWII figured it was all hopeless and just gave up?
What if God had really meant to stay with us through thick and thin, but then...well, he just got tired?
:) Aren't you glad God isn't like us? Aren't you glad our God is an awesome god? Our god is not glorified humanity. Our God is divine, perfect, and King of Kings. God doesn't make promises he can't keep.
God's New Year's Resolution for 2010 is the same as it has been since the beginning of time: "I will always love you, I will always be with you, and I will never give you what you cannot handle."
My Daybook: Week 3
Thanks for following, Courtney Reese! WooT!
Wanna do your own? Click HERE.
Date: Saturday January 16th, 2010
Starting time: 8:54pm
Mood: serious.
Outside my window: Pitch blackness, but warmer than it has been in days, so YESSS!
I'm thinking: seriousness.
I'm reading: "A Passage to India" still. Oh, CRAP, I'm behind again. >:(
I'm listening to: the old computer humming like a freaking locomotive
I'm wearing: ...I feel like such a failure. I'm wearing the same thing every freaking Saturday. Just different versions of it. Jeans, shirt, and sweatshirt. Just different jeans, shirts, and sweatshirts. :-/
Yesterday, I: spent the night with Matt and Katie!! It was awesome!
I'm excited for: Well, Cavender is coming to church tomorrow.
I'm sad because: I wish I could help more.
I'm hungry for: NOTHING. I ate lasagna at Matt and Katie's house and I am STILL FULL.
The song stuck inside my head is: "Glorious Day" by...I do not know. We sing it at church and Mrs. Martha (Matt and Katie's mom) has been humming/singing it all day :)
I want: No school.
I love: my family, friends, and almost-family.
I loathe: Satan.
This week, my goal is: to...do...(uh...) my chores. Hah, a goal! YES! (One day I'm gonna put down my goal is to think of a goal. 'Cause that's pretty much what I think every week, LOL)
Did I meet last week's goal?: Last week's goal was to be a better friend. Unfortunately, I can't really answer that one for myself. Hmm.
Ending time: 9:05pm :D
Distracted Post...Character Day and Picture Day
Oops.
As I was going to bed last night (actually as I was writing in my journal), it occurred to me that I didn't blog yesterday. Of course, by then it would have been today anyway if I had posted. I tend to say up kinda late(ish).
Yesterday was Character Day and today is Picture Day. Character Day is my favorite, and I hate that I missed it, so maybe I'll combine the two days and post a Picture of one of my Characters?
You guys have probably all seen Darren and Paige before (if you haven't, you can see them on my book's website HERE), so let's pick something different. Er, someONE different :)
That's Luken. He's in Mirror, too, but I don't think I've posted a picture of him yet. He's an elf (obviously), and slightly arrogant, very mysterious, and determined to find his exiled father.
I know this was a pretty dull post, but I'm in the middle of trying to install a webcam (thanks, Kyle), and trying to win a Write-a-Thon (thanks to Kyle again, LOL) and get my cleaning done before...
WE GOT TO MATT ("little brother") AND KATIE ("little sister")'S HOUSE!
My parents left today for a conference, so we get to be part of Matt and Katie's family for this evening and tomorrow. YAY!!!
But that does mean that I have to finish cleaning before Mrs. Martha (Matt and Katie's mom) gets here to pick us up on her way home from work.
So, mostly that translates into "I gotta go XD"
Advice Day
"Honesty can be a good thing, but so can discretion." ~Your very own Kendrabelle
Be nice. Being honest can be a great personality trait, but not when you use it as an excuse to blurt out your hurtful thoughts.
That's all I have time to say for now, I'm writing. LOL, sort of. I ended up not really liking what I had going for the Write-a-Thon, so I've started something else...and I only have 496 words so far :-|
*headdesk* Ergh.
God Day: My Relationship With God
EDIT: You didn't think I was going to let a follower go by without proper recognition, did you?? XD Thank you SO MUCH for following, Libby! Wow, ninety followers. I seriously never (EVER) thought I'd see the day. :O
This is going to be sort of a personal-experience post, so...yeah. LOL, just wanted to say that. This isn't a big revelation or anything, just some stuff that I've been thinking about.
So, I'm not really this amazingly spiritual person. I only pray at night, I never confess my sins individually, I forget to forgive, and reading the Bible is something I do only when I need advice. Mostly, I kind of suck. Mostly, I don't care as much as I should. But lately, that's started to change.
I don't know what happened, or when, but I can almost feel God pulling me. He doesn't seem so far anymore, even though I've only just started to try in our relationship.
I have a really weird relationship with God, okay? It's not your normal "weird" relationship either. It's not that cliche sometimes-he-feels-so-far relationship, or that I-don't-understand-how-he-could-love-me one. My relationship with God is just really on and off. Like a switch.
There will be weeks at a time where I cuss in my head all the time, snap at my sister, roll my eyes at my mom, read things I shouldn't, and don't do my school work.
Then, the next day, I'll decide to pray, and immediately, God and I are great again. I can feel him with me, I get stuff out of the Bible, he gives me good ideas, he makes me laugh.
What. The. Heck.
I know, right? I don't get it either.
Here's the other thing that I'm almost afraid to admit for fear of sounding self-righteous:
I don't have a problem hearing God's "voice".
*bites lip* Do you hate me now? I hope you don't think I'm bragging, because I really don't want to come across that way. I just...well, whenever I pray sincerely, God answers me.
Now, this is advice I'm talking about. It's not like God just dumps piles of hundred-dollar bills under my bed or magically gives me that older brother. It's just that whenever I pray to God to help me understand something or show me what to do, he...well, he does. And it's really, really nice
This time around, I want to make a conscious effort to stay close to God. None of this floating away, I want to have this all the time. I've been praying about something for a few weeks now, and today God revealed to me what to do, clear as day. I know what to do, but I think it might be...hard.
*gasp*
What?? God's challenging me?? XD
One thing our youth leaders always tell us that I think I'm learning more and more:
Be careful what you ask God, because he'll show you, and you better be ready.
What's God asking you to do? Whatcha waiting for? Go carpe your diem and ask him.
My Daybook: Week 2
Wanna do your own daybook? Click here.
Date: Saturday January 8th, 2010
Starting time: 1:03pm
Mood: I'm fine. STILL sorting some stuff out, but I'm making progress, so that's good. But my stomach hurts, so that's kind of a sadness.
Outside my window: Sunshine! And bare trees.
I'm thinking: Babysitting tonight (not Matt and Katie).
I'm reading: "A Passage to India." Oh, you've never heard of it? THERE'S A REASON. *shakes head*
I'm listening to: the computer humming. And my fingers clacking really fast on the keyboard. And the little gmail chat sound when Kyle says something.
I'm wearing: Banana Republic jeans, a church T-shirt, and a Classical Conversations sweatshirt. And "white" ;P (All y'all on Facebook should be laughing.)
Yesterday, I: went to a rollerskating party. I'm a good-ish skater. I'm not fancy, but I'm fast (mostly) XD And I did not fall.
I'm excited for: Well, Cavender is coming to church not tomorrow, but next week! That is all I can think of to be excited for. (If I'm missing something huge that you are offended that I've forgotten about, please don't hate me.)
I'm sad because: I'm actually not.
I'm hungry for: LOL, my answer is basically exactly what it was last week: "Um, I'm not hungry. But if I were, it'd be for Ramen noodles XD"
The song stuck inside my head is: Nothin'.
I want: I think I know now.
I love: sleeping well.
I loathe: cramps.
This week, my goal is: I just realized how under-achieving I've become. Okay, I will say to be a better friend.
Did I meet last week's goal?: My last week's goal was to do really well the first week in school. I did. I didn't try my best, but I'm still doing really well. *sigh*
Ending time: 1:22pm :D
Dat's all. KBye.
P.S. Don't you love that signature? XD
Rise of the Kendrabelle
There are some who call me...
Thursday, January 7, 2010
The Story of Cinderbelle (read previous post, too please :D)
I feel the need to explain my desire to change my username.
Cinderbelle is my new favorite nickname (courtesy of Cavender XD). Actually, my only favorite nickname. Most of mine are really annoying and/or embarrassing (with the exception of TSGIW :P)
The name came when I was having to do an insane amount of chores one day. I was complaining to Cavender, who called me Cinderella.
I pointed out that I was definitely not Cinderella, because she was a lot more gracious about chores than I am XD We'd already established the fact that Belle was basically the Disney version of me, so he suggested instead:
CINDERBELLE.
And voila, Cinderbelle is born.
~Kendra
MONUMENTAL DECISION (skip to the end if you want)
Remember what I said about how our BritLit assignment was cool? Well, I lied.
I *thought* it was going to be cool, but it's turned out to be tedious, slow, boring, and pointless. The book is, at least, not the assignment. The author doesn't tell you who's speaking, you just have to kind of figure it out. And it's set in India, so the way they phrase things is sort of cryptic and awkward. And nothing happens. I'm a fast reader, and this is day 2 with only 50 pages covered. I need to get to 170 by Monday. *groan*
Besides that riveting piece of news, guess what else has happened today?
NOTHING. -.-
This is my life during school. Exciting, isn't it? This is why we need a schedule. I'm planning on starting it this Sunday, so I'll just take the top seven Days from the poll.
As of now, the schedule is going to be:
Sunday: God Day
Monday: Name/Quote/Advice/Question (tied, obviously)
Tuesday: Fact or Fiction Day
Wednesday: Picture Day
Thursday: Character Day
Friday: Memory Day
Saturday: Daybook Day
So yeah. That is all I have to say.
OH, WAIT, NO.
I actually have something MONUMENTAL to ask you guys:
What if I changed my username? How freaked out/opposed/PO-ed would y'all be? Here are the ones I was considering:
Cinderbelle (ditch Kendra completely, but...I don't think I could do that...)
Kendrabelle (I like this, too.)
Kendra Cinderbelle (I don't like this.)
Thoughts? I know this is a lot of asking in one post, but if you wanted to leave me a comment with your opinion, I'd like it :)
By for real, y'all :D
The Weekly "Most" Awards for Schoolwork
So far, the leading Days in the schedule poll are
#1: Character Day
#2: God Day
#3: Fact or Fiction and Name Day
If you want that to change, vote :)
So, yesterday was the first day back at school. So far, I'm trying to be a better student than I was last semester. I got all good grades and everything, but I wasn't trying my best by any stretch of the imagination.
The Weekly "Most" Awards for Schoolwork
Latin - the Most Surprising
I actually don't hate Latin this semester :O Instead of memorizing junk that's too hard and not that important in real life, we're using our skills to read Caesar's battle notes! How cool is that?? I was like, "AWESOME!!!"
British Lit - the Most (*struggles for the word...and can't find it* -.-) Unique/Unusual/New Assignment
We have to learn to take notes on a book. We're using "A Passage to India" and we have to keep a written list of the characters in the front of the book, write summaries above each chapter, write summaries for each page, circle words we don't know (then look them up and write the definitions in the margins). I think that's a cool assignment. A really good skill to get before college.
Music History - the Most Enjoyable
Basically, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring is GENIUS and Debussy's La Mer is right behind. I LOVE THOSE. And the final in this class will be to be able to recognize a piece by hearing a random ten-second clip of it. No sweat. Audio is my best way of learning. This is gonna be a cinch. A really FUN cinch XD
Biology - the Most the Same
...pretty self-explanatory.
Drama - the Most Easy
We read a play out loud in class, and that's all. We don't even have any homework in this class. And it's pretty fun, too. We're reading "Harvey" right now, and it's great.
Debate - the Most Disappointing
Blegh.
Math - the Most Boring
*zzzzzz*
The end :D
Dance tonight! Yay! Talk to y'all later!
Return of the Schedule?
So, first: what do you think of the winter look? I really like it, but it sort of seems...dark almost. Kind of like the White Witch's castle or something, you know? Hmm.
Well, school sort of started back today. Not full speed by any stretch of the imagination. All I had to do was a little biology left over from break and repack my backpack for this semester. Tomorrow is when the real tortur--er, fun begins.
*sigh* I'm not sure when I started to dislike school so much. I used to sort of like it. I think I started to hate it when I started having to try really hard ;P Everything used to be really easy, now I have to really think. Darn, right?
It is official, though:
Kendra has a kold :(
But, seriously, it's not that bad. I hate feeling slow and stuffy, but it's not that bad. I slept a lot better last night than I did Saturday night. Saturday night was like my own personal...heck ;P FREEZING COLD!!!!! Last night, I wore my awesome new pajamas that Matt and Katie gave me, and added two extra blankets to my usual three :D I had really weird dreams though. Not even cool ones like usual, just kind of stupid :-/ Oh well.
With school starting back, I think I may need to get up a schedule again. What do you guys think? It's nice to have something pre-thought-out ideas so that I have something to go on if my day has been totally BLECK, you know? Hmm.
Okay, here's a list of all the "days" I've done before. Which ones would you really like to see back? I'll probably put up a poll in a minute.
1. Name Day
2. Quote Day
3. Character Day
4. God Day
5. Carpe Noctem Day
6. Word Day
7. Advice Day
8. Question Day
9. Fact or Fiction Day
10. Award Day (will not be returning, just so ya know, LOL XD)
11. 50 Word Friday (will definitely be staying, just so ya know ;))
12. Memory Day (...? Did anyone else *completely* forget this one??)
13. Picture Day
Do you feel like this was as boring and useless a post as I do? ;P
Female Cows and New Pajamas
So. Today has been good and bad at the same time.
Bad:
- I slept horrible
- I've been cold all day
- I think I may really be getting sick :(
Good:
- Church was good (I loved all the songs we sang!)
- I got some great journaling done
- We had Christmas with Matt and Katie's family, WooT!
We went straight to their house after youth group (since all of us except Katie were already together). We got pizza :D Then presents.
Lizzy shops for Katie, I shop for Matt. It just works better that way :) Katie was thrilled with her presents (a soft blanket she'd been wanting and this awesome Bath & Body Works peppermint soap).
Matt was actually really glad about his kite and reaction ball, too! :O I was really glad and kinda relieved. I don't know if you remembered, but he showed me this car he wanted me to get him for Christmas, but when I went to get it, it turned out to be a slot car -.- So, I ended up having to get him a kite. He actually *loved* it!! He said he'd been *wanting* a kite, and Matt's not one to make up crud like that.
I got REALLY AWESOME, REALLY FUZZY PAJAMAS!!! YAY!!! I love y'all!!!
So, because I didn't really feel like much, I mostly sat and watched Matt play Modern Warfare 2. I usually like to watch that kind of stuff. Today, I was too fuzzy to really take it all in, so I just made do with pestering Matt with irritating questions:
"What makes that gun an uzi?"
"You do realize that a 'heifer' is actually a female cow, right?"
"How do you tell who's on your team?"
"Can you shoot holes in that water tower?"
His answers:
1. "It's the kind of gunnnnnnnn, Kendra."
Me: "I KNOW THAT. What MAKES IT AN UZI??"
Him: "It shoots faster than the other ones. But there are actually guns that look just like it that shoot faster."
...WHAT THE HECK.
2. *laughs* "No, I didn't know that..."
3. "There are big green letters above them. Jeez."
4. *ignored me*
So that was my day. Mostly good, kinda cruddy because I feel sick, though :( But, not bad. Also, the fact that school starts back tomorrow kinda puts a damper on things.
Oh well.
Tomorrow, look for "Things About Playing Video Games With Guys".
My Daybook: Week 1
Just finished watching two episodes of Alias. I love that show. Have I said that before? ;) So, this one had Mr. Sark in it, okay? And he kept...
*voice trails off as you zone out and completely ignore everything I was going to say*
*cough* So. Anyway.
So, guess what? I'M GOING TO START A DAY BOOK! I've been watching them float around, and I figured it'd be fun to start one...eventually. Seems like the new year is a great time to start. Every Saturday, count on one of these popping up...
Wanna do a daybook, too? Click-o here-o (haha, hero...sorry. I'm in a weird mood today).
Kendra's Daybook Week 1
Date: Saturday January 2nd, 2010
Starting time: 9:49pm
Mood: relatively happy. A bit distracted, and sorting some things out.
Outside my window: pitch black. I hate winter -.-
I'm thinking: WOW, if there was ever a big question, this is it. There is no short answer to that one, let me tell ya. A lot. I'm thinking about a lot, and a lot about a lot XD
I'm reading: right now I'm rereading The Mortal Instruments Trilogy. I want to read "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown ("The Da Vinci Code") next.
I'm listening to: the wind howling around my house. I never knew wind could sound like this in real life until we moved here.
I'm wearing: Banana Republic jeans, a Walk For Autism T-shirt, and my black sweatshirt with the name of my dance studio in gold on it. And socks. That fit. And underwea--you know what, never mind (;P).
Yesterday, I: went to Matt and Katie's house and had an awesome time.
I'm excited for: um, hmm. Nothing really... :(
I'm sad because: whoa! How'd you know I was sad? :O I just can't figure out what to dooooo about some stuff, and that makes me sad, among other emotions.
I'm hungry for: um, I'm not hungry. But if I were, it'd be for Ramen noodles XD
The song stuck inside my head is: Nothing. Aw, dang, now you made me have a certain song in my head... *clears throat* Cavender... -.- :P Just kidding.
I want: O.O Um. I do not know. (Loaded answer, believe me.)
I love: sarcasm (Lols, that totally could have been sarcastic...WooT XD)
I loathe: people who think I am inferior
This week, my goal is: to do really well in the first week of school. Gotta start off strong!!
Did I meet last week's goal?: N/A
Ending time: 10:07pm (See? I told you I was distracted.)
Avatar Review (among other things)
Thanks for following, Milli! YAY! :)
And happy New Year, everyone :)
Tonight I was supposed to be babysitting, but that got canceled so we're going over to Matt and Katie's (little brother and little sister's) house for a New Year's party. Tons of people are going to be there. Tons. It's going to be...utterly insane. I'm talking like seven families. Around 30 people. In one house. >:D This should be fun.
Today has been fairly uneventful. I went to be at...uh, just...late, and woke up at 11:30 :O My mom was surprisingly cool with that. *shrug* Okay, I'll take it. Then, I talked on gmail (what else is new?), then ate lunch, then went on a walk with my family. We took our black lab, Licorice (or Licky for short). She's my baby :)
The wind was COLD, and it made my sinuses hurt, but the walk was still fun. The sun actually came out about halfway into the walk, which was great. One thing (of many XD) that I hate about winter: it's always either nighttime or cloudy. No sun. And I LOVE sun.
We walked around in a house that's under construction. My dad and Licky go there a lot, but Licky won't go up the stairs because they're construction steps and she can see through them. But guess what? When I was there, she went up the steps with me :) *Aw* I love my doggie :D
Anyway, the house was nice, but not a Mr. Leon House (Mr. Leon is Matt and Katie's dad). Once you get used to looking, you can just tell when a house is one Mr. Leon has built. LOL, after ten years of walking through house after house that he's built, I've become pretty good at identifying his work.
Hmm, that came out really stuck up. LOL, I didn't mean it like that XD
But anyway, so far today has been good, but pretty chill. Tonight, though, at Matt and Katie's house... O.O :) That's really gonna be something to post about XD
Oh, a quick word about Avatar for those of you who might be wondering what I thought of it:
On a scale of 1-10, my personal rating is about 5, maybe 6. The graphics were AMAZING, absolutely stunning. The acting was fine, the script was fine, but the plot...the plot (in my opinion) wasn't very good.
Plot (no spoilers): The American army is trying to get to this really awesome, valuable rock found on the planet Pandora. Unfortunately, the Na'vi, who live on Pandora, have a village right over the bed of really awesome, valuable rock. The American army wants the rock.
Whoo hoo XD
That wouldn't have been so bad if the villains hadn't been so BLAH. The main "evil guy", an American colonel, is mean for one reason only: the wants the rock.
...
What? That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to be a raving mad evil guy determined to kill everyone in his way?
I didn't think so either.
He was VERY two-dimensional, which is especially pathetic because we saw it in freaking 3D ;)
One last issue:
The movie portrays Na'vi (eco-friendly natives who want nothing but peace and happen to be sitting on a valuable resource) as the terrorists of the real world. The movie then portrays the crazed American army who will stop at nothing to get at the resource as America.
Think I'm reading too much into this? I am not. The comparison is fairly in-your-face. Notice the phrases "shock and awe" and "preemptive strike". Whoever made the movie was clearly trying to show the American army as evil and the terrorists as victims. If you like that sort of thing, fine. I did not.
So, that's my take on the movie. I did not really like it. I may want to see it again, but I was disappointed greatly.
:D So...have a great rest of the day, and I'm headin' to Matt and Katie's!
