Book Tag! (Way Better Post Than That Last One XD)

Yeah, I'm posting twice in the same day. But I figure that's okay for the following reasons:

1. I haven't been posting much lately, so this will compensate a little.
2. I have some awesome news (3 actually) to share.
3. I forgot to thank some new followers :O
4. I got tagged by Silver Angel!

First things first, thanks for following, duck_sister, Marissa, Silver Angel, and Jennoula2009! Wow! :D (Sorry I couldn't find links for duck_sister and Jenn!)

Now, awesome newses XD

I FOUND MY MOOD RING!!!!!! :O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O I had totally given up, but it turned up in a notebook case! I do not remember putting it in there. Am I the luckiest person in the world, or what? ;) Another Fortuna Kendrae.

Awesome news #2: I GOT A CALL BACK FOR DANCE IN "THE KING AND I"!!!!! YAY! :O :D I think Cavender is coming with me, so he'll get to see me either sink or swim, lol XD Hopefully I'll swim. And gracefully XD

News #3: I'm on Facebook. There's a little gadget on the right...scroll down. Keep scrolling. Keep--yeah, there. Add me :D

Okay, now for the awesome tag from Silver Angel (whose blog I like. Check it out.):

Rules: 8 books you'd like to live in (mine aren't in order) and why, then tag 8 people! Easy ;)

Book 1: "Eragon". Sorry, but Alagaesia is awesome. And because it's necessary to continue the story. You know the green dragon appearing in the fourth book? Yeah, I'm the Rider. Oh yes.

Book 2: "Lord of the Rings". Surely this doesn't need a Why?? *sigh* If you must know, it's because I think Tolkien was one of the greatest fantasy geniuses on the earth. His world is so complete, it's hard to believe it doesn't really exist. Every race has its own back story, its own legends, its own customs and ways of life. It's just so rich with detail, and I'd love to meet the Hobbits :) Elves, too, but I do love the Hobbits.

Book 3: "The Chronicles of Narnia". Tolkien was a genius, but Narnia holds an irreplaceable spot in my heart. My friends and I once thought we had actually found Narnia in the backyard of my school. I'm not so sure we were wrong...Talking trees, knights in shining armor and wolves have to mean something, right??

Book 4: "The Mirror". Is it egotistical and/or cheating to want to visit my own book? I want to know that I got my characters right, and I'm sure there's a lot I'd have to see to describe accurately. And I wanna meet Luken rlybad.

Book 5: "Peter Pan". Never land is right up there with Narnia. No lie. And Peter Pan is freaking awesome.

Book 6: "The Farsala Trilogy". Really cool books. Kinda hard to explain, but awesome.

Book 7: "Sophie's World". That is such an epic book. It is truly something. Like philosophy, mystery, suspense, fantasy and education wrapped up in one. It is so cool. You have to read it some time in your life. Really, it's so eye-opening and AWESOME.

Book 8: "Uglies series". It's set in the future. Scott Westerfield has an incredible mind for technology. It would be so cool to use some of the gadgets first-hand. And the problems introduced in their world are very interesting.

Thanks for the tag, Silver Angel! That was fun!

P.S. I know it's too late to do the blog parade Bekah was having, but the questions are so fun. Would it be okay if I did them in a tag sometime?

Musical Roots

I must be bipolar XD But this is going to be a happy post. Know why?

I FINALLY DECIDED ON A MUSIC LECTURE IDEA. AND I FREAKING LOVE IT.

The assignment: Pick three different styles of music and analyze and compare them.

Deciding was my biggest hurdle. I couldn't settle on anything. I thought of doing three things that I thought would have nothing in common like Classical, country and death metal. I really wanted to do, like, subgenres of metal. Lots of people (especially the people in my class) think it all sounds the same. I thought it would be really interesting and fun to analyze some different types. Unfortunately, my teacher and most of my classmates would hate that -_- Also, to do the idea justice, I felt like I'd need more time than I had.

Then my mom had the idea to take three kinds of music that built on each other. I liked that idea, but I still didn't know what to pick...

(The project is due Tuesday by the way. We've had all semester to work on it. Heh.)

I began researching stuff like "music family tree" and "roots of music" and "music genome project". I was coming up blank and getting more frustrated by the second. Finally, I'd had it with the whole thing. I decided to pray. I probably should had done that earlier, but I'm never sure how much time God wants to spend on my petty little academic issues...

Anyway, while I was asking God for suggestions (XD), I got an idea.

"What if I take Classical music, trace that through, like, Stravinsky, and then...I wonder if there's a kind of metal that comes from that..."

I did some research. There is a direct line from Classical, to Neo-Classical (Stravinsky), to Neo-Classical metal.

How. Perfect. Is. That.

I actually kinda screamed for happiness. (No one was home, so it was okay XD) I spent the next two hours completely fascinated and excited about my project. This stuff is so fascinating, people! Oh my gosh! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed school so much! I might do this in my spare time!

I got a little sidetracked with my keyboard, though. I do not play the keyboard, but before long I had "Happy Birthday", "What Child Is This?" and some of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" figured out. I was really excited :D

My dad says I have all this natural music talent. I'm not sure. I don't think I'm particularly gifted, but maybe. *shrug* It's interesting me more and more for sure.

And guess what? I'mma have another ring soon. So yay.

*doesn'tgrindoesn'tgrindoesn'tgri--okay, GRINS*

I'm really thrilled about the music lecture. I can't even tell you how excited I am. I'm just really pumped :D :D :D

A Happy Ending, But...

Well. Today was preeeetty awful.

#1: Woke up to an angry mother.
#2: Got my cell phone taken away.
#3: Did not get enough school done.
#4: My mom's students came this afternoon, which translates to no computer use and no desk chair in my room -_-
#5: A girl stepped on my toe at dance. In a tap shoe. It kills -_-

And then the worst:

#7: My ring broke. The one I replaced my mood ring with. The one that was my favorite.

:-/ >.< :( :'(

I should have taken if off before dance. But being the incredibly intelligent individual I am, I did not. So now it's busted. Into three pieces. I only found two.

Only now today doesn't suck AS much anymore because SOMEONE just made me laugh my head off and smile and grin, so...whatcha gonna do? Did today suck, or is all well that end's well?

I'm going with a happy ending fixes everything.

At least until I remember my ring is busted and my mood ring is somewhere at Great Wolf Lodge and so my ring finger feels all naked and sobbing and my toe--

Never mind. All's well that ends well XD

Brief Explanation and Today

First: Sorry about yesterday XD And sorry to anyone I came in contact with yesterday. Bad day. I realized I'd left my phone charger at Great Wolf Lodge, my jaw popped out of joint, one of my friends was letting his giant crush show more than usual, I still couldn't (and can't) find my mood ring, I discovered things about a friend that I'd rather not have found out, etc. etc. etc. Just a really bad day.

And the next day was Monday, which only added to my misery. Monday's suck, in case you didn't know.

Today...kinda sucked. It could have been a lot better, it could have been a lot worse. But, I'm going to focus only on the good.

Good Things About Today:
- I wasn't super tired when I woke up.
- I actually really loved "A Morbid Taste For Bones" that we read for school.
- I got the new Alice in Wonderland soundtrack on iTunes, and I love it.
- I discovered that I still have a giant Hershey kiss from Valentine's Day and dug into that.
- My mom is letting me finish my Brahms paper on Wednesday instead of me bleeding out my eyes trying to write it at the computer right now. (That didn't make sense...but whatever. I'm tired.)
- I'm actually tired and I want to go to bed, which doesn't usually happen at such a good time.
- I successfully reminded my classmates that my teacher's birthday is tomorrow, and we're all making goodies and cards for her.
- I got a very encouraging comment.

Hah, wow, I didn't realize all those good things happened :D I feel even better now. Yay.

This is the end of the real post, but I found an interesting "tag" on Facebook today, and I want to post it. It's kind of odd and not really relevant to anything, but here it is:

Boys are always good with their words, Am I right?
Some boys really are. In my experience, mostly they are not XD

Do you believe "drunken words are sober thoughts"?
No.

How about all girls are b*****s. Correct?
All girls CAN be, but not all are all the time.

When someone says "we need to talk," what runs through your mind?
Usually I’m really up for it. I like talking about stuff, especially the “hard” stuff for some reason.

What’s the last movie you watched? With who?
“The Sister Act” with my family :)

When was the last time you wanted to punch someone in the face?
Hmm, lol, I don’t know.

Do you know anyone who always looks perfect?
I used to, but lately I’ve started to realize that perfect is almost relative. Sooner or later your personality starts to show in your face, and then those perfect people don't look quite so perfect anymore XD

Two wrongs don't make a right, Correct?
Technically, they don’t. But sometimes the way we think…

Do you think relationships are hard?
Uh, definitely, but they can also be more than worth it.

Is there someone who meant a lot to you at one point, and isn't around now?
Definitely.

Can money buy happiness?
Yep. Happiness comes from things or circumstances. HAPPiness comes from HAPPenings. But JOY; that comes from God and from your attitude.

What do you hear right now?
“Her Name Is Alice” by Shinedown from the new Alice in Wonderland soundtrack.

If you had a tree that could grow anything you want, what would it grow?
Is Time too abstract? If so, then money.

Do you know anyone who's been in jail?
Mhmm.

What is your favorite color?
Green

Do you have a lighter on you?
Hah, no.

Could you go a month without talking to your best friend?
Yeah. But it kinda sucks.

Have you ever sat in the back of a police car?
No XD

Would you say you’re emotionally strong?
I usually am in front of people, but in private…no.

What’s worse, ignorance or stupidity?
Stupidity. Ignorance can be taken care of, but stupidity is a mindset and it’s totally your own fault.

Do you know anyone, who doesn’t smoke pot?
Uh, yes. Plenty XD

Think, what do you want more than anything?
Structure.

Would you rather have long or short hair?
Eh, I’m not sure. I hate having REALLY short hair, but really long hair makes me look like a hippie…

Do you follow your head or your heart?
Normally my head.

Do you ever get so frustrated that you just wanna cry?
Yesss.

After taking a shower, do you change in the bathroom or in your bedroom?
The bathroom. My house is freezing. I like to stay in the warmness as long as possible XD

Which would you rather, grow old with somebody or alone?
With someone for sure.

Your lost in the middle of nowhere, without a phone to call for help, What would you do?
Well, what kind of “nowhere” are we talking about? At first I pictured a desert, but, I mean, >insert name of my town< style="font-weight: bold;">What will you be doing in 15 mins?
Writing a paper I should have written about five days ago.

What's your middle name?
Cinderbelle XD No, it’s Marielle.

Have you ever given up on someone but then went back to them?
Lols, kind of.

Do you have someone of the opposite sex you can tell anything to?
Yes.

Have you ever dated two people at once?
I’ve never dated anyone. So no.

Who was the last person to piss you off?
It’s not usually a person, it’s more like…me.

Are you Asian?
Lol, I am not.

Are you happy right now?
Sort of...yeah.

What age do you want to get married?
Early-ish twenties. Like 24.

What's a line from the song you're listening to?
“But all I feel is strange.” – from “Strange” by Tokio Hotel and Kerli

Are you a bad influence?
It depends on what kind of bad influence you mean.

Do you get jealous easily?
It’s not exactly “jealous”, just kind of…sad-skeptical-unsure. Lol.

Is it usually easy for someone to make you smile?
Depends on the person.

Is tomorrow going to be a good day?
Possibly. I guess it depends on me.

Ever cried while you were on the phone with someone?
Yeah, but I’m a quiet crier, so I’m not sure they knew, lol XD

What color's your shirt?
Black.

Do you like to be tickled?
I’m not ticklish, so I can’t say. But I kind of wish I were ticklish, lol.

Are you dying to take off your clothes?
Uh. No…

Do you care too much/not at all/just enough?
Mostly not enough, but in some areas, too much.

Have you ever kissed someone with the same first initial as you?
Lols, no… XD

Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?
Probably no one. Being tied to anything sounds horrible to me.

What should we do w/ stupid people?
I like Kathryn’s answer: “Feed them to sharks.”

What was the first thing you did this morning?
I dunno…I think I probably texted someone.

Are you spoiled?
Nooo.

How do you vent your anger?
I mostly try to keep it inside and it leaks out on people until it’s all gone, lol.

Would you ever join the military?
I’ve thought about it, but I don’t think I’m tough enough, lol.

The last website you visited?
Holly Schindler: Novel Anecdotes to read her interview with one of my favorite bloggers, Sam from One Sparkling Star!

Who was the last person you took a picture with?
I don’t remember.

Today, would you rather go back a week or go forward a week?
Forwards. Let’s get through the remaining six weeks of school as freaking quickly as possible.

If you read all that, you get...a virtual cookie :D Here you go. *hands cookie*

Have a good day :) Remember the good stuff. It kinda helps.

The Earth Shakes

Today was :D

I hung out with Cavender all day at church, my house, then Ellie's house. Then my house a little bit more. We played Balderdash with just us and my dad, and watched a little bit of the movie "Major Payne", which is awesome.

My friend's party was pretty fun, too!

I also ditched my mood ring today.

*pauses while you scream, gasp, and recollect yourself*

Yeah, I got something better now :)

So, today was great. Really great.

Inspiration Tag! And Magic Ring Part III

Dress giveaway! Click HERE to go see it! It's bright green, springtime-y and very cute.

Guess what? I'VE BEEN TAGGED!! How fun is that? Thanks, Ciaraaaa:) (I also just noticed that your URL is "davetheninja". I LOVE THAT.

Okay, so it's called the Inspiration Tag, and you pick pictures for it, then tag people who inspire you. And you have to tell WHY.

1. Choose one picture that makes you "cringe like *heck*" (hehe, censored!)
2. Choose two pictures that just amaze you.
3. Choose one picture that shows your dreams and aspirations.

This is gonna be FUN!!!

Okay, cringe...So, I don't cringe that easily...only two things can guarantee a good wince from me: things being torn off/out (fingernails, eyeballs, etc.) and guys screaming. The latter just freaks me out and I have trouble sleeping. It must be psychological. It just scares me.

But, most of you probably don't want to see someone's smashed finger, so I won't put it here. If you're crazy, click HERE :D

Amaze 1 (CLICK ON IT) I love this. I love the moon and majestic-feeling stuff.

Amaze 2 (It's China)
Dreams:
Now, everyone knows that I want to be a writer and a lawyer, so that's no fun at all. So...guess what?
I "secretly" want to learn how to fence. I really, really do. Unfortunately, whoever invented the GUN sort of ruined it for all us swordmen (or women) wannabes. I mean, nowadays the bad guy could shoot you befor you've even drawn your sword.

And that was the Inspiration Tag. Now, I have to tag four people who inspire me. That's hard. Inspiration for me doesn't usually come from people, at least not "real" people. Famous figures might inspire me, but mostly it's music, books, and exercising (runner's high, there's nothing like it). The main "real" person who inspires me doesn't blog, so forget him/her/it ;) Alright, I tag...

1. David Bailey--my Daddy :)
2. Gabrielle--BFF!!
3. Ellie B--BFF!!
4. Ember-- ;)

Don't be sad if I didn't tag you. I wouldn't have really tagged anyone except that I HAVE to, haha! Inspiration is rarely from people for me.

Okay, now here's the next except from The Magic Ring (this is the last thing in this post, so if you don't care about the Ring, stop reading...NOW ;P)

Part III:

It was the ugliest ring Katelyn had ever seen in her whole life. It was so ugly it almost made you want to cry. It looked like it had belonged to a rich, stuffy person from the eighteenth century.

“Oh, wow,” Katelyn said in a wooden voice. “I’ve never, ever seen anything like this before.” No one I knew was capable of producing such hideousness. “I’ll keep this very safe.” Like in a vault that I’ll never, ever, open. The ring had a thick gold band and a huge, reddish brown jewel in the middle. It was all Katelyn could do not to grimace. Jamie, who was leaning over Katelyn’s shoulder, gave a little gasp of horror. Caroline’s smile was frozen on her face. Mrs. Mullen had her hand over Emily’s mouth so she wouldn’t say anything.

“It’s given to the middle daughter on her thirteenth birthday,” Gram explained. “Your grandfather and I only had two children, so I didn’t have the chance to give it to one of my own. It’s been in the family for hundreds of years and is treasured beyond all compare.”

“Like I said,” began Katelyn. “I’ll keep it really safe.” Remember the vault? Gram still looked irritated to have to give it to Katelyn. It was as though she didn’t think Katelyn was worthy and she wished that Jamie or Emily had been the middle.

“I trust you will, Katelyn Elizabeth,” replied Gram. “And I know you will be so proud of it that you will want to wear everywhere…”

So much for the vault. Maybe I can lose it…

“…and whatever happens, don’t lose it!” Gram finished.

So much for that idea. Silence filled the air.

“Well,” Mrs. Mullen began. “I see Roger driving up now. Let’s all have dessert.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh, Jamie!” groaned Katelyn to her sister that night as they were getting ready for bed. Jamie and Katelyn shared a room and Emily got her own because Emily talked in her sleep and it would wake up anyone who slept in the same room. “I hate that ring!” Jamie nodded sympathetically.
“It’s pretty ugly,” she agreed. “But remember, you only have to wear whenever Gram and Pap are around.” Katelyn wrinkled her nose.
“I wish I could just forget about it!” she declared. “What a waste! A perfectly good notebook or fantasy story replace with an ugly old ring.” Jamie looked at her.
“Katie,” she said. “Don’t be ungrateful. It might be ugly, but it’s the thought that counts.” Katelyn glared at her older sister.
“You might feel differently if it were your birthday present,” she pointed out. Jamie shrugged as she climbed into bed.
“Maybe,” she agreed. Emily wandered in from her room down the hall.
“Whacha talking about?” she demanded. “That ugly ring?” Katelyn shot Emily a look.
“None of your beeswax,” she snapped. “Go back to bed.” Emily wrinkled her nose.
“Are you gonna wear that ring for real?” she asked. Katelyn shook her head.
“Not if I can help it,” she replied. “Now go away.” With one last pout, Emily went back to her room. Jamie turned out the lights and everyone went to sleep
Fortuna Kendrae: My Rings
Some of you may know that I am a ring person. I have about 12 of them. Rings (with the exception of anklets) are the only jewelry I actually wear. Bracelets annoy me, my necklaces always break, and I don't even bother with earrings.
I've had this same plain little mood ring since I was 9 or 10 years old and have worn it faithfully since age 11. It's not big, it's once-silver edges are long turned brass, it makes my finger green, and it rarely gets my mood right, but it's been through a lot. It went through Mock Trial with me, survived my first trip to Disney World, stayed securely on my finger through practicum after practicum. (That is my exact mood ring...well, what it used to look like :D)Also as some of you might know, I'm huge on memories. I get attached to things faster than you can say "carpe diem", and sentimental value is a big deal to me. I "love" this little mood ring. I always make sure I know exactly where it is, which is saying a lot for absent-minded me. If I notice it's not on my finger, I stop whatever I'm doing and find it. My family and friends know that when I say, "WAIT! I've lost my mood ring", they'd better freeze right there.
Ellie B and I joke that when I get married, there will be a ceremonial Removing of the Mood Right (yes, I wear it on my left ring-finger).
I have another ring that's a wrap-around butterfly that I got at this awesome place called Great Wolf Lodge a little over a year ago. I wear it on my right middle finger, and it's also one of my "default rings". I love that ring, too because I built lots of cool memories at GWL, but my mood ring is still #1. (The ring below is pretty much exactly what the butterfly ring looks like, but the outer lines are gold on mine and the jewels that make up the body are smaller and "diamonds".)For Mulan, however, we were all told that we weren't allowed to wear any jewelry. (I didn't really realize that meant my rings at first; I just don't ever wear any other jewelry, and my rings just feel like part of my hands.) It finally recognized the problem just before the Stage Manager called "places" for the opening night show. Yikes! I took them off and stuck them with my stuff.
As the cast headed to the after party, I rummaged around in my stuff to grab my rings; my fingers feel completely awkward and naked without them. I was spending the night with someone, though, so my things were already packed in the trunk. I went to the cast party without them, and sort of forgot.
Every day after that, I would think, "Dang, I have to remember to put my rings back on!" That way of thinking went on for about a week; you know how I am, it takes me a while to ever actually get around to anything. I eventually did get around to it, and put my rings back on. That was short lived, though, because I was about to get in the shower. I took them off again.
Since I'd been out of the habit of wearing them for a week, I forgot to put my rings back on. As I was lying in bed that night, the lack of metal circles around my fingers was starting to bug me. Don't you hate it when you're lying in bed, cozy and half-asleep, and realize you've forgotten something? *sigh* I went to get my rings.
They...weren't on the bathroom counter.
Maybe they were in my hairbrush/makeup/etc. drawer? Nope.
Ohh, maybe I was crazy and never put them back on from Mulan. They were probably in my makeup bag...No, not there either...
Well, I had put on lotion, and I take them off to do that. Maybe they were with my lotion bottles?
No.
On my desk! That must be it.
Nothing.
On my pillows next to my bed?
Nada.
On the bathroom cabinet?
No there either.
WHERE WERE MY RINGS?????
By this time, if you can imagine this, I'm tearing through all of downstairs, frantically searching. I'm kind of OCD, so when I decide I'm going to be irritated until I find something, I am. Everything seems worse at midnight, too XD
Well, after searching every conceivable place forty times, I decided I would HAVE to wait until morning.
The frantic searching continued for days until I finally gave up :( I must have lost the rings at play practice after all. They weren't in my makeup bad, or any other possible place. I was really upset :'(
Saturday, you know, was the last performance of Mulan. That was depressing. On top of that, as we were all walking to the car, someone said something that reminded me of my missing rings. The day was quickly going downhill.
I grouchily yanked bobby pins out of my bun and stuffed them in my makeup pouch. O.O
Hey.
Was that...?
MY BUTTERFLY RING!! Hallelujah! And the mood ring must be right with it! I joyously ran my hand through the makeup pouch.
Are you kidding me.
No mood ring.
It must have fallen out.
Well, that joy was short lived. I was thrilled about having my butterfly ring back, but my real pride and joy was still AWOL. Whatever.
Dejected once again, I flung open the car door.
*draw drop*
Unbelievable.
There, on the floor of the car, sat my faithful mood ring.
How did it get there? How was my butterfly ring in my makeup pouch, for another thing? I *KNOW* I searched in there before. And why was my mood ring sitting on the floor? It shouldn't have been in the makeup pouch to get on the floor in the first place...
What can I say? I'm just lucky like that :)
This has been another episode of "FORTUNA KENDRAE!"
English translation: Kendra's Luck ;)
Until next time,
