Books
Books.
I love reading. My first word was "book." I used to follow my mom around the house when I was two, holding up a book and asking her to please read it to me.
When I was little, my mom picked out my books. She always picked really good ones, classics or ones that were by well-known authors. When I got to be ten or so, I wanted to pick my own books. My mom was fine with that. It was then that I realized something:
Not all books are actually good.
It was a strange revelation to realize that a book doesn't have to be well-written with well-developed characters, a tight plot, and good vocabulary to get published.
I haven't changed much in my expectations for books since then, except maybe I've gotten even "snobbier" XD I'm sure that keeps me from finding as much stuff that I absolutely love, but I think that's a fine. I'd rather know what a really good book is when I find it than think everything I read is amazing.
I don't mean to sound really arrogant here, although I'm sure I probably do :-/ Anyway, I'm thinking about doing book reviews every once in a while, maybe even starting a separate blog for it. Would any of you be interested in that? If you don't mind, leave a comment and let me know!

"The Clockwork Angel"
The Scavenger Hunt is officially over! Only three people won :P Congratulations to...
Third Place: Tragedy101!
Second Place: Noelle!
First Place: Elizabeth!
Yay! I should have awards for you today, but I don't have them yet. Give me until tomorrow if you would :)
By the way, you know my obsession with (the amazing, hilarious, awesome, witty, clever, sarcastic, arrogant, extremely attractive) Jace? And the trilogy he lives in called "The Mortal Instruments?"
Well.
Cassandra Clare has started a new trilogy that happens hundreds of years before "Mortal Instruments." I've been wanting book one, "The Clockwork Angel" for months. I got it yesterday at Sam's (that's like Costco)!
It.
Is.
Great.
I'm only about a third of the way done, but it's great! I'm not completely in love with the characters yet, but that's only because I'm not finished. They're great. Cassandra Clare did a great job of creating a new story and new characters. I would have been tempted to make my hero and heroine just like Jace and Clary, even if by accident. The main guy, Will, is witty like Jace, but he's completely his own character, too.
I've also laughed out loud about 10 times already. I pretty much NEVER laugh out loud at books. I mean, inside I might be rolling, and I might grin or chuckle, but Cassandra Clare always has me giggling out loud and re-reading paragraphs just because they're hilarious.
Seriously, I'd read this book for Henry alone.
And he's not even the cockycutefunnyguy of the story.

Book Tag! (Way Better Post Than That Last One XD)
1. I haven't been posting much lately, so this will compensate a little.
2. I have some awesome news (3 actually) to share.
3. I forgot to thank some new followers :O
4. I got tagged by Silver Angel!
First things first, thanks for following, duck_sister, Marissa, Silver Angel, and Jennoula2009! Wow! :D (Sorry I couldn't find links for duck_sister and Jenn!)
Now, awesome newses XD
I FOUND MY MOOD RING!!!!!! :O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O I had totally given up, but it turned up in a notebook case! I do not remember putting it in there. Am I the luckiest person in the world, or what? ;) Another Fortuna Kendrae.
Awesome news #2: I GOT A CALL BACK FOR DANCE IN "THE KING AND I"!!!!! YAY! :O :D I think Cavender is coming with me, so he'll get to see me either sink or swim, lol XD Hopefully I'll swim. And gracefully XD
News #3: I'm on Facebook. There's a little gadget on the right...scroll down. Keep scrolling. Keep--yeah, there. Add me :D
Okay, now for the awesome tag from Silver Angel (whose blog I like. Check it out.):
Rules: 8 books you'd like to live in (mine aren't in order) and why, then tag 8 people! Easy ;)
Book 1: "Eragon". Sorry, but Alagaesia is awesome. And because it's necessary to continue the story. You know the green dragon appearing in the fourth book? Yeah, I'm the Rider. Oh yes.
Book 2: "Lord of the Rings". Surely this doesn't need a Why?? *sigh* If you must know, it's because I think Tolkien was one of the greatest fantasy geniuses on the earth. His world is so complete, it's hard to believe it doesn't really exist. Every race has its own back story, its own legends, its own customs and ways of life. It's just so rich with detail, and I'd love to meet the Hobbits :) Elves, too, but I do love the Hobbits.
Book 3: "The Chronicles of Narnia". Tolkien was a genius, but Narnia holds an irreplaceable spot in my heart. My friends and I once thought we had actually found Narnia in the backyard of my school. I'm not so sure we were wrong...Talking trees, knights in shining armor and wolves have to mean something, right??
Book 4: "The Mirror". Is it egotistical and/or cheating to want to visit my own book? I want to know that I got my characters right, and I'm sure there's a lot I'd have to see to describe accurately. And I wanna meet Luken rlybad.
Book 5: "Peter Pan". Never land is right up there with Narnia. No lie. And Peter Pan is freaking awesome.
Book 6: "The Farsala Trilogy". Really cool books. Kinda hard to explain, but awesome.
Book 7: "Sophie's World". That is such an epic book. It is truly something. Like philosophy, mystery, suspense, fantasy and education wrapped up in one. It is so cool. You have to read it some time in your life. Really, it's so eye-opening and AWESOME.
Book 8: "Uglies series". It's set in the future. Scott Westerfield has an incredible mind for technology. It would be so cool to use some of the gadgets first-hand. And the problems introduced in their world are very interesting.
Thanks for the tag, Silver Angel! That was fun!

A VERY Long Post (Includes Question Day, Character Day, My Day, and Two Tags :O)
1. Question Day (Why do people have it so good, but then complain all the time?)
2. Character Day (Johnny Tremain)
3. Usual post stuff (how my day was, what this evening looks like, what I'm reading right now)
4. Tag from Bethany (Hopeless Romantic Tag)!
5. Tag from ciaraaa:) (Finish-the-Sentence Tag)!
6. Thanks for reading, don't forget to vote, ask me stuff, don't forget about Followers Say, blah, blah, blah.
Question Day:
From GracieTheFirst: "Why do people have it so good, but then complain all the time?"
My answer:
It's part of human nature, I believe. The lack of "carpe diem", the staring at the grass on the other side of the fence.
Often people who have it the best complain the most. Isn't that odd? I think the reason is that they are spoiled. Not in the bratty way, just that they've had everything they needed all their lives. They don't know what it means not to get everything they want for Christmas, or not have enough food, or not have a best friend.
When you never need anything, you can't appreciate not having it.
Like in Coloniel days, a stick of candy would make a kid's day. Now, a stick of candy is just a temporary pleasure that we forget ten minutes later when we're whining to go to the movies.
Sort of the opposite, people can complain all the time because of ONE THING they don't have, and that over-shadows all the good they DO have. A girl might gripe and moan about, oh, say...not having an older brother, and miss the fact that both her parents are happily married to each other, have jobs, and she lives in a beautiful new house!
You're so right; we need to stop complaining. It's so cliche, but we really do need to count our blessing. Be glad of the things we have, ignore the things we don't (within reason).
However, on more reason for ridiculous complaining is that the person needs Jesus. Honestly, the way to true happiness cannot be found in possessions. It cannot be found in good friendship (although that certainly is a wonderful thing). It cannot be found solely by counting your blessing.
To be truly happy, one must find God.
Long story short: People who live the good life complain all the time for one (or all) of three reasons:
1. They don't know what it means to live the "bad life", so they have nothing to compare their "good life" to. They have never lived the "bad life", so they can't realize how good they have it.
2. They are too busy complaing about a single thing to realize the countless blessings surrounding them.
3. They are looking for happiness in the wrong places.
Hope this answer is everything you were hoping for! Thanks for asking!

Character Day! Sorry I'm late.
Since this is going to be a monumental post anyway, I'll go into semi-detail this time.
The character of the week is Johnny Tremain from the book "Johnny Tremain" by Esther Forbes. Why Johnny? Because I think he's an excellent example of a realistic and complex character. The book takes place right before and during the Revolutionary War. Johnny begins the book as an extremely talented silversmith's apprentice for a kind master, Old Mr. Lapham.
The complexity of Johnny’s character helps makes the story believable. At the beginning of the book, pride dominates Johnny’s nature. His skills as a silversmith far exceed those of the other two Lapham apprentices, and Johnny lets this go to his head. For the first part of the book, Johnny is extremely arrogant and treats everyone as though they were beneath him.
Pride isn’t Johnny’s only character trait, though, even from the beginning. Johnny is also clever and bold and determined. He can’t be stereotyped, which makes him seem especially real. He reacts to things in ways unique to him. The way he feels about Cilla, the old Mr. Lapham’s daughter, confuses him, and he struggles with what to do about her. This struggle adds depth to Johnny’s character, and shows a different side than his usual arrogant, determined nature.
Johnny grows up a great deal during the course of the book. He never loses his proud nature completely, but he learns that everyone makes mistakes—even himself—and his pride shifts from arrogance to healthy self-confidence. He matures and finds his true self, developing into a determined young man of courage and good values.
Johnny is one of the few characters I've read about that can't be put into the common mold (hot-head, ladies' man, prep, innocent, big-mouth, etc.) at all. He's as real and complex as anyone you might meet in real life, and sometimes even more so. Johnny is one of my favorite literary characters, and Esther Forbes is a writer I long to be like.
------------------------
Ah, yes. Today was much needed.
I got all of my work done, and tonight my dad is going to watch football with some guys, so it'll be a "girl's night" at my house :) We are renting (or buying) the Hannah Montana Movie and having popcorn, pretzels, etc.
Yes, the Hannah Montana Movie. I've had such a wonderful day, though, that I don't even care! And plus, it really wasn't a half bad movie at all. I even liked it, and it's not my thing. Lucas Till helped, of course ;) Haha, just kidding.
In school, we're reading "Paradise Lost". Not the whole thing, though. Just all the arguments at the beginning and then book one. We read some of it in Challenge B (eighth grade), and I HATED IT with a PASSION. All the except we read talked about was gluttony and drinking, gluttony and drinking, for pages and pages and PAGES. I thought reading all of book one was going to be torture.
It is not.
I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Honestly. Really. I LOVE IT.
Book one is all about Satan, his falling from Heaven, and rousing up his rebel angels in Hell to continue resistance against God. It's incredible. John Milton is an absolute genius. He portrays Satan so believably. Evil, yes, but relatable, real, in some places almost charismatic. I'm a firm believer in God, but some of Satan (as Milton portrays him)'s speeches are incredibly persuasive.
"Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven." --Satan
Favorite quote. While I have to admit it, I tend to think that way myself. I know that's horrible, and I'm a strong Christian and everything, but...well, does anyone else know what I mean?
I had crazy dreams last night. More Maximum Ride dreams. I watched the whole series as a movie, but when I woke up, I realized that it didn't even follow the book. It was really vivid and interesting, but not half as good as the dream where I was Max and Fang was my "brother" :)
I've been tagged! Twice! Yay! I do love these things. Thanks, Bethany and ciaraaa:) for tagging me!
First tag, from Bethany:
The Hopeless Romantic Tag:
1. What two qualities do you want most in your future husband? Humor is definitely one of them. He's got to make me laugh. Who wants to spend the rest of their life with someone who has no sense of humor?? Quality two...Okay, there are several qualities that I'd like, but I'll say this one just to shock everyone: Protective. *scowls as your jaw drops* Yes, okay, I said it. Not like Over-bearing Edward Cullen or anything, but someone who will stick up for me when necessary, and, well, protect me. I'm horribly proud and like to think of myself as a complete fend-for-herself girl, but I actually appreciate when people step in and say, "Hey, knock it off" when I'm in trouble, or help me out.
2. Is there a fictional character you see as a model for your future husband? Hmm, I don't know. I've had countless book-crushes, and I'd marry a couple of character, but isn't it kind of a moot point since they're, well, characters? Okay, that's not really an answer, I know. Let me try again. Eragon ("Eragon"), Fang ("Maximum Ride"), Jace ("The Mortal Instruments"), Johnny Tremain ("Johnny Tremain") and Kavi ("The Farsala Trilogy") are my top book crushes. Make of that what you will.
3. Where do you want your wedding? I don't know. Outside weddings are pretty, but the weather is so unpredictable, and I like predictability when it comes to things like weddings. I definitely want it to be simple, yet elaborately beautiful, if that makes any sense.
4. What are your views on courtship? Nice idea. Don't know if it's going to happen. (Well, put Bethany.) I think it's a fine idea, and it works wonderfully for some people. I don't think I will do it. The idea of a "boyfriend" is kind of heavy for me, though. I'm a huge believer in "friends first". Hanging out with a guy one-on-one is fine with me, but when I get really serious, I want to be absolutely sure that it's someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. Does that make sense?
5. What are your views on your first kiss? I'm waiting for someone I'm really in love with. I'm terrible at KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid), though. I complicate things to within and inch of its life, and then there's no magic left. I want everything to be perfect for my first kiss, but I know that's impossible. Just my nerves alone will prevent that.
6. Do you have or want a purity ring/locket? No, but I want one so badly!! Of course, I'll have to take off my mood ring to wear it :O
7. Do you have or want a hope chest? I dont' have one, and I'm not sure about wanting one. I think it's a beautiful kind of old-fashioned idea, but I don't know that I want to have a giant chest full of towels and dishes and stuff in my room waiting for the I Do's...
8. Will you wear a veil at your wedding? No. I want to see everything just as it is, not through a veil.
9. What kind of wedding dress do you want? Ooh, something intricate, Elven, and definitely white. I like this, but I'm not sure about for a wedding dress...It seems a little more like a ball gown. Honestly, though, I'm horribly at this kind of thing. Lizzy (my sister) will definitely be accompanying me to every bridal store to make sure I don't buy anything I'll regret, lol!
10. What flowers do you want in your bouquet? Just pretty ones. I have no idea. I like rose,s though. And I like pink at weddings.
11. What do you want to name one of your daughters? *moan* Don't get me started on names! Um...I like Hope actually. I used to really hate all the names that were virtues, but lately I've started to like Hope. I like Ava, Alazne (uh-LAZ-nee), Maris, Elizabeth. I like the combination Cameron Beth (a girl, obviously). Ava Elizabeth is pretty. Alazne Maris is nice. So is Alazne Elizabeth. So is Alazne Marielle. So is Elizabeth Hope. Lol, see why it was a bad idea to get me started on this??
12. What do you want to name one of your sons? You asked for it. Names I like: Kade, Darren, Cavender, Brandon, Matthew, Mark, Drew (not Andrew, Drew). Brandon Matthew sounds nice. So does Darren Cavender. Cavender Mark. Brandon Daniel. Mark Alexander. Alexander Mark...
13. Do you believe in the 'knight-in-shining-armor' view of courtship? I don't know exactly what that means...I'm thinking not, though, lol
14. What music do you want to play at your wedding? "Here I Am" from Spirit (STOP LAUGHING AT ME), some Lord of the Rings, At Wit's End from Pirates of the Carribean. Other stuff.
Are you a hopeless romantic? Oh, I don't know. Not out loud, but inside...probably so :)
Tag from ciaraaa:)!
The Finish-the-Sentence Tag!
I like tomato soup.
I like books that make you deaf to the world.
I like music that makes you feel things.
I like shocking prudish people >:D
I like laughing.
I like getting everything done.
I love my friends. (I know that's cliche, but I really mean it. See, I love my friends so much that I put books in "like"!)
Today I skipped snack :O
I hate worrying.
I hate throwing up.
I hate losing people I'm close to.
I hate idiots.
I hate loving to run but being too out of shape to run long distances.
I hate slow computers.
I hate my parents nagging me.
I hate people bugging me.
I hate sleepless nights.
I hate books that end with unanswered questions.
Thanks for tagging me y'all! Wow, the Hopeless Romantic one is something I've never seen before. I really enjoyed that, because I hadn't really thought about a lot of the questions before. I like the Finish-the-Sentence tag, too. It's a neat kind of over-view of a person.
Thanks for reading to the end (if you did)! I know it was a long post. Don't forget to vote on the Disney Movie poll and think about Followers Say! You guys rock; I love being able to post my thoughts here.

26. Every time you see them, demand an explanation of why exactly they don't like Maximum Ride.
27. If anyone tells you you'll go to hell for reading Maximum Ride, either: a) jump and down and tell them that you can't wait; b) tell them you'll meet them there; or c) ask them to back up this claim with evidence, and laugh at them when they can't.
28. Play the book-on-tape while they're stuck in your car.
29. ...add commentary.
30. When it's the anniversary of one of the releases, call to remind them.

34. Count down to some obscure Maximum Ride event, whether it's a random date mentioned in the books, or maybe a character's birthday. Keep saying: "87 (86, 85, etc.) more days!" in the middle of every conversation you have with your friend. Smile in a superior way when they ask what you're counting down to.
35. Start talking about a deceased Maximum Ride character and suddenly burst into hysterical tears.
36. Refuse to be comforted.
37. Send them numerous letters informing them that they have been selected for research, and you must bid them goodbye.

48. Tell them that they're almost as good a cook as Iggy.
49. ..refuse to tell them who Iggy is.
50. Speak in an androgenous voice at random moments and make predictions about people, give directions and advice. Then, use your normal voice again and pretend that you don't remember anything.
Haha, now that that's done with, I just have three quick "announcments" to make.
1. Since Word Day and Carpe Noctem Day are scheduled for replacement, I need something to replace them WITH. I have some ideas, but I'd really like to know what you guys want, since you're the ones who read my boring junk anyway ;)
2. Don't forget to vote on Name the Assasin girl poll. Pro to Kieran: very cool sound and cool meaning. Pro to Vega: very cool sound and fits with the meaning of her two brothers, whose names mean Sun and Mood. (Vega means falling STAR).
3. Also don't forget about Followers Say...at Carpe Noctem coming up on September 26! So far there are only three people "signed up" to do it. C'mom, you know you want to ;) Details here.
That's about it! Thanks, y'all! Talk to ya later!

My Life, the Pscho Mystery Story?!
The weirdness started last night. I mean, I guess. I don't remember. Which is the weirdest part! Okay, so apparently last night went just like any other night pretty much. I went to bed, and then read Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports for a really, really long time. I went to the bathroom right before turning off the light, and on my way back to my room, I heard this creepy hissing noise, so real and so close that my blood ran cold. I whirled around, hoping I wouldn't actually see anything, but in the middle of the big downstairs room, is a tall something. More blood running cold. The thing hissed again, and this time it sounded like, "Hey."
It was Lizzy.
I was pretty ticked off at her for freaking me out. I was only half conscious anyway because I'd been reading Max like a fiend trying to get as far into it as I could before I passed out asleep. My mind was working in creepy ways, going about bird kids and mutants and evil scientists and sneaky Erasers and junk like that, so having Lizzy sneaking around the house at night really didn't help the situation much.
But, I digress.
I went to sleep after a while of lying in bed, wondering why I was still awake. When I finally went to sleep, I had millions and millions of very fast, very flashy, very creepy, very intense dreams. They had to do with everything from twin brothers who fought to air vents flying off to big spiders to my friend Gabrielle evangelizing. And a **TON** of stuff that I can't clearly remember.
I woke up with a jolt, kind of warm and cozy and disoriented. Then, my stomach hurt like crap. Not like I was gonna be sick, like someone was cutting open my insides. It hurt really bad. But I must have dozed off again because I woke up when my mom came in and opened the blinds saying, "I'm so sorry, I forgot, you have soccer practice at 10 and it's five till right now." I opened my eyes and was once again greeted by the knife-in-the-gut sensation.
"My stomach hurts," I said. My mom was sympathetic, but still kind of hurrying me to get to soccer. I went to the bathroom, but my stomach still hurt really bad. I wondered if my mom had overslept or something since she and my dad hadn't gotten back until really late the night before. They'd been helping at a wedding rehearsal and hadn't gotten back until 12:34. Funny time, isn't it?
Well, my stomach was still slicing itself up even as I tried to get ready for soccer. It really hurt, and I didn't think I'd be a very good addition to the team, so I ended up calling the coach and leaving a message explaining why I didn't go to practice.
After a while, my stomach felt better, and I read some Max (finished it actually) before lunch.
The day went on pretty usual from there. Lots of reading and talking, though no computer at all, which was weird.
At 4:45 I started getting ready to go to this wedding we had to go to tonight (I just got back from it). I put on my new dress (you saw it yesterday) and all that good stuff. We went to the wedding. On the way, I started having really weird feelings about my parents getting home so late. It almost seemed like they didn't get home late, and that was just a dream. I had dreamed so much...I couldn't be sure. So, I asked.
"What time did you guys get home last night? Was it really late?"
Daddy sort of shrugged, eyes on the road. "It was a little after 8, I guess." He turned to my mom. "Wouldn't you say?" She agreed.
For the second time that day, my blood ran cold. What?? They hadn't gotten home at 12:34? But...but I had been so sure! I remember it! I remebered them--Wait, I remembered them coming home at 12:34, but I didn't remember anything else...
"Uhm, so you didn't come home at 12:34?" I asked. Daddy frowned.
"Uh, no," he said. I was getting a little weirded out.
"Oh....'kay...Well, what did we do last night?" I asked.
The whole family kind of looked at me.
"Momma and Daddy brought home those strawberry popsicle things..." Lizzy prompted. That faintly ran a bell...
"We watched about an hour of What Not to Wear," my mom reminded me.
"And that new episode of Phineas and Ferb," Daddy said.
I know I was looking at them like they were speaking Russian, but I didn't remember any of that! They had to be kidding me. Or maybe I was kidding me...but how can you kid yourself?
"You don't remember this?" Daddy asked. I stared at him and shook my head. He went on, "I was downstairs in the unfinished part of the basement, trying to fix the air conditioning? You said goodnight to me, then went into your room and closed the door?"
I frowned and nodded slowly, "Now that you mention it, I remember that."
My mom nodded. "Is it starting to come back now?"
Still, frowning, I had to answer, "Uh...no, not really."
They didn't seem nearly as alarmed about this whole thing as I was.
The wedding was beautiful, and the food was good, but I didn't get enough, so I'm still hungry, which for some reason is the best feeling to me. One of my favorite feelings is to be really tired and really hungry when I'm going to bed in the summer. I have NO IDEA why.
I also have no idea what happened last night, or why I had such insane, fast-flashing dreams, or why I don't remember anything that happened last night except strawberry popsicles and my dad fixing the air conditioning. I'm kind of scared.
Why can't I remember that random little piece of time?
Did the dreams mean anything?
Will I remember what happened tonight when I wake up?
Did my stomach pains this morning have anything to do with it all?
I know this probably sounds like some insane mystery book and not at all like real life, but that's me for you, I guess. Even though this is creepy and freaky, it's kind of...well...exciting, too. I hope this turns out to be something really awesome and not just a random brain fart or something. Hmm...
But then again, I hope it's not something serious, like brain failure...
Just keep me in your thoughts...and hopefully tonight will keep itself in my thoughts, too...

Shopping. Yeah, AGAIN.
Anyway...
Challenge Day! Challenge: do 100 crunches.
This is in honor of soccer starting tomorrow. I figured something exercise-related would be good.
I am so nervous about soccer. The coach forgot about me, so the team has already had two practices without my knowledge. I'm in horrible shape, and it the coach makes us run a bunch, I don't know what I'll do. *moan* I'm on a team with a guy from my class named Ben, who was on my team last year. At least I don't have to worry about looking stupid in front of him--he saw it all last year anyway. *sigh*
My poison ivy is doing incredibly well! Yay for the small-town store with homemade soap! The poison ivy soap is amazing. It works crazy-well.
So, today, I went shopping again. Lizzy's and my mom's birthdays are coming up, so my grandma took them shopping. I decided to go with them, and my mom bought me (sort of) some more school clothes. And one random dress. I'm considering posting more pictures...hmm...I'll ask Lizzy.
She said okay. So, here:
*MOAN* Only now I feel like such a vain girl who wants to show off. :( Not true. I just usually hate shopping and all the sudden I'm going all girly and loving it and I want to document it! *moans again* Please don't hate me...
Me in a dress. *gasp* YES, ME, IN A DRESS.
My Michael Jackson shirt XD What can I say? He's the King of Pop.
Pig tails XD
And, yeah.
Other than shopping, worrying about soccer, and OH, YEAH, I got the next two Maxiumum Ride books, and so far, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports is excellent. <3>
That's about it. Pray for soccer, and thanks for the prayers about my poison ivy! That's clearing up nicely. Also, thanks for voting on the Name the Assassin Girl poll. Looks like Kieran is still ahead...

Vets, Colds, and Computers
Second things second: Word Day! And my word is: desconsolado.
First person to explain that to me gets an award. We all know it will be Cavender, but let's wait and see for sure.
Third things third: Today was okay. Mostly. I finished the Da Vinci Code, which was *very* good, took my dog to the vet, ran out of tissues for my cold, had a rough afternoon, ate a great dinner, watched Wizards of Waverly Place with the family, ate a slice of pizza, pretzels, and a Go-Gurt, then here I am. And my chin is itching...hopefully it isn't poison ivy.
So, basically, I have a cold, my dog has a double ear infection, I'm too full, and I thought about Him a lot today.
Still had a good day. My chin itches.
Last night at like midnight, I wrote like a page and a half of "Mirror". It's okay. It's a little more formal than the rest of the book, though. Weird. My writing style kind of tends to mimic whatever I'm reading at the moment, and The Da Vinci Code is written with slightly bigger-than-usual words, so I guess that's rubbing off on me.
We finally got a new router for the computer! Yay! It was going great until like...just now. Great. It's SLOWER THAN MOLASES again. We have such rotten computer luck.
Oh, I also have a new gadget, the page-hit counter! I started it at 1000, because I figure in the year I've had this blog, surely it must have been visited that many times. I was going to start at 100 instead, but I accidentally clicked "finish" or whatever before I had the chance.
Gracias to everyone who liked my eye yesterday, lol! Lizzy's amazing with cameras.
I hate how boring I am today. I'm sorry.

Sleeping Beauty's Make-Over
I'm going to go with Sleeping Beauty's name, Aurora. It means "dawn", and it comes from the Latin.
Why that name, you ask? Keep reading.
Okay, now that Name Day is out of the way, let me tell you what I've been doing today :)
First, I started reading "The Da Vinci Code". Both my parents have read it, and they told me I would really like. They said it's intriguing and well-written even if it isn't all historically accurate and some religions are falsely portrayed, including Christianity.
I'm only a few chapters into the book, but it's everything I hoped for so far! It's extremely well-written and fascinating, the story just draws you in. Author Dan Brown uses all the words that I know and never have to use! Haha, I'm such a nerd, but it really excited me to be able to exercise my ridiculously huge vocabulary.
I'm not far into the book at all, but I'll definitely let you guys know what I think when I'm done. Even now I can tell it's going to be one that I highly recommend.
Besides reading, I've been sleeping really late (10:30am today), reading blogs, writing painfully few words, and coloring print-outs of Disney characters.
I've gotten really into coloring the past couple of days. I'm a serious perfectionist about it, too. So far I've colored Meg (from Hercules"), Aladin and Jasmine on a horse, Peter Pan with Tinker Bell, Ariel sitting on a giant clam, Sleeping Beauty with Prince Philip, and Belle with The Beast.
On Sleeping Beauty, I decided not to color her as she is in the Disney movie. I colored her luxurious curls brown, gave her a red crown, an orange dress with red color and sash, and drew on a ruby ring for her ring finger. If I do say so myself, she looks way better than Disney has her ;D She looks mysterious and fiery, not Little Miss Perfect in Pink. I made some terrific changes to Bland Prince Philip, too. He's dressed in red, orange and black with jet black hair. He looks awesome. If I do say so myself.
I am way too into this.
Anyway, the mission trip is in two days! *gasp* Lizzy was getting nervous today, and now I am, too...*deep breath* Oh well. I know I'll be just fine, and having Matt and Lizzy to watch out for will make me feel better anyway. Too bad Daniel isn't going this year, though. Having him around is like having an honorary older brother.
Hmm.
Well, I guess that's about all I have to say.
Oh, wait, let me rant really quick about having writer's block: DANGIT! WHY CAN'T I FREAKIN' WRITE?? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE? SURE, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M WRITING TOWARDS ANYMORE; SURE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WANT THE STORY TO END; SURE I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TAKE THINGS ANYMORE; BUT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, KENDRA! WOULD IT KILL YOU TO CRANK OUT A COUPLE O' PARAGRAPHS??
Okay. I'm finished. Thank you, goodnight, carpe noctem.

P.S. Just for the heck of it, I'm going to tell you the names of my main characters in "The Mirror" along with their meanings. I chose the names carefully, and all of their meanings have significance.
1. Paige: young attendant
2. Darren: small great one
3. Lila: of the night
4. Arawn: unrestrained wildness
5. Narcissa: sleep
6. Luken: light
7. Aerona: poison berry
8. Nyoka: snake
9. Lita: sorrows
Darren's, Narcissa's, and Nyoka's name meanings are the most fitting, but the rest of them are pretty important, too.
Let me know what you think if you want to.

"Stargirl" and Vacation Heads Up
Although, since this IS Quote Day, I'll probably post one of his quotes anyway, but that will be the end most likely.
I woke up at ten o'clock today. Ah, there's nothing like sleeping late, then looking out the window and seeing it's sunny, warm, and breezy outside. I ate two Pop-Tarts, finished reading a book called "Stargirl", and then got on here to resume my life as a computer nerd. We might be going to the lake later today, though, so I'll get out then :)
I just want to say a little about "Stargirl". It's written by Jerry Spinelli. (He's written other stuff, but the only other thing I've read, I think, is "Loser".) I really like "Stargirl". It's not one of my favorite books necessarily, but it's provocative and well-written, even if the style is a little odd. I'll post what it says on the back of the book:
"She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of a cactus flower, the flitter shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew."
Stargirl is a very interesting character, and the whole book is just like one eye-opening experience after another. It makes you think about things in a whole new way. It's a really strange book, but I would recommend it to anyone. It's relatively small, only 186 pages long. I could probably read it in a day, but it's pretty good reading.
I'm going on vacation tomorrow, to the beach! Yay! My grandpa lives really close to the beach and he works at a hotel. We're going to stay at the hotel and be with him some, too, because his brithday is the 10th.
I really like my grandpa. He's fun and always looks for the good things in life. He's funny, but not on purpose. He's terrible with directions, which makes for some hilarious stories. He's always so put-together. He wears nice business suits and seems like the kind of person you can ask things and depend on. Everyone likes him. He's easy to get along with, is considerate and kind, and a good worker. He's an awesome grandpa and I love him a lot.
I'll be gone until Tuesday, but my dad is bringing his laptop along and the hotel has WiFi, so I might be able to post. I don't know for sure. We'll see.
I haven't written "Mirror" in a little while. Hmm. I'm in another block. This time it's because I don't know where I'm going with this. I don't know what I want to happen for sure, or how to end it. I have several possible endings, all of them good, but I don't know which one to chose. Oh well; I guess I'll figure it out eventually, right? Hm.
Thanks for reading this jumble of odd thoughts! I hope your day is going well!
OH! I almost forgot! It's Quote Day! But I don't I'll do a Jace quote after all. I think I'll do a Stargirl quote:
"And...I see. I hear. But not with my eyes and ears. I'm not outside my world anymore, and I'm not really inside it either. The thing is, there's no dfference anymore between me and the universe. The boundary is gone. I am it and it is me. I am a stone, a cactus thorn. I am rain. I like that most of all, being rain."

Couldn't Help Myself
1. "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself, [but] I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting."
2. “I am a bad***, and I recognize that you, too, are a bad***."
3. "If you were half as funny as you think you are, you'd be twice as funny as you are now."
4. “...in fact, don't touch any of my weapons without my permission.”
5. “It wouldn't be my move. First the candy and flowers, then the apology letters, then the ravenous demon hordes. In that order.”
6. "Don't tell me. Simon's turned himself into an ocelot and you want me to do something about it before Isabelle makes him into a stole. Well, you'll have to wait till tomarrow. I'm out of commission.” He pointed at himself-he was wearing blue pajamas with a hole in the sleeve. “Look. Jammies.”
7. “The meek may inherit the earth, but at the moment it belongs to the conceited. Like me.”
8. "I have a high pain threshold. In fact, it's more of a large and tastefully decorated foyer than a threshold. But I do get easily bored."
9. "No. I'm just a very naughty boy. I do all sorts of bad things. I kick kittens. I make rude gestures at nuns."
10. “That does it. I’m going to get you a dictionary for Christmas this year.”
11. "I see. I'll just have them change demonology text books from ‘almost extinct' to 'not extinct enough for Alec. He prefers his monsters really, really extinct. Will that make you happy?"
12. "Yeah. He’s terrified I’ll tell everyone that he's always really wanted to be a ballerina.”
13. "'Ha Ha?' That's your comeback?"
14. "I loved that jacket!"
15. “No, we’ve been punching her repeatedly in the face. Why, do you think that won’t work?”
16. “I am a man and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown.”
17. “I don't want to be a man. I want to be an angst-ridden teenager who can't confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead."
Love it. Hope you did, too. I had to take out some of my favorites because they're...really hilarious, but kind of thing that could be blush-inducing. I don't feel like posting that sort of thing here, lol! And I apologize for this unseemly bout of teenage girlishness.

Jace Wayland <3
He's a character in "The Mortal Instruments" trilogy. I don't know if you remember, but I read that a couple of weeks (a month?) ago. Well, Ellie read them, too, of course, and we're equally in love with Jace. He's so amazing. Hot, arrogant, a Shadowhunter (one of the best, I might add). He's just so awesome. I don't even know why.
Anyway, we hope it'll become a movie, but at the same time we don't. I mean, what if it ends up like "Twilight"? They don't do the movie justice, and then everybody and their brother is in love with it. I don't want "The Mortal Instruments" to become another pop-culture phenomenon that everyone ends up hating after three weeks. Jace is too awesome to be spoiled like that.
Isn't it wonderfully ironic that today is Picture Day? Because now I have an even better excuse for posting pictures of Jace! :)

I do love this one. Possibly a favorite.
Probably my favorite. It captures it all.
The actor is pretty cute, too, but, as usual, the character is the one I'm "in love" with. *sigh/moan* Figures :)
Last night was Gabrielle's 14th birthday party! That was really fun! Seriously. It was great. It was almost like "old times" in a couple of ways, and the "new times" weren't so bad either. I was really happy with the evening, and I think Gabby was, too! I'm always self-conscious about the presents I get people, but I think she was pleased. Yay! :)
That's all for now, folks! Talk to ya later! Look up "The Mortal Insturments"! Carpe diem!

Couch Potatoes Can't Apply Makeup
