Hairband Wars

Okay, I have some hard news. I've been taking kind of a break from my everyday blogging routine, and it's been really nice. I know I said I was coming back for Easter, but I really feel like my time would be better spent focusing on school, church, and writing right now. So, as hard as it is to say, this is goodbye. Okay, April Fool's already. People were starting to tear up. So yeah XD Hah. Got you. Anyway...

So, Cavender came over today :)

We hung out downstairs and had epic wars. Like with pillows and hairbands. (He thinks that he won, so if it comes up, play along so you don't hurt his feelings ;P) Then we went to down the lake with Lizzy and Licky the Awesome Dog. After going to the cabana and to Matt and Katie's beach, we came back and I made Kool-Aid (black cherry, and, okay, I put in a TINY bit too much water and sugar, but it turned out just fine XD). Then we watched Phineas and Ferb, then ate hot dogs, and then he had to leave :( *cue violin music* XD

Other than that, today was not all that great. I'm being very unproductive in the academic area, which is probably going to end up making my Monday a living Heck. Oh well. I won't think about that right now. Tomorrow is going to be SUPER PRODUCTIVE...

It's also supposed to be 85 degrees and my friend Brianna is sleeping over and we're going to blow up this huge inflatable thing and go to the lake :D

Tonight I was supposed to be babysitting, but that got canceled so we're going over to Matt and Katie's (little brother and little sister's) house for a New Year's party. Tons of people are going to be there. Tons. It's going to be...utterly insane. I'm talking like seven families. Around 30 people. In one house. >:D This should be fun.

Today has been fairly uneventful. I went to be at...uh, just...late, and woke up at 11:30 :O My mom was surprisingly cool with that. *shrug* Okay, I'll take it. Then, I talked on gmail (what else is new?), then ate lunch, then went on a walk with my family. We took our black lab, Licorice (or Licky for short). She's my baby :)

The wind was COLD, and it made my sinuses hurt, but the walk was still fun. The sun actually came out about halfway into the walk, which was great. One thing (of many XD) that I hate about winter: it's always either nighttime or cloudy. No sun. And I LOVE sun.

We walked around in a house that's under construction. My dad and Licky go there a lot, but Licky won't go up the stairs because they're construction steps and she can see through them. But guess what? When I was there, she went up the steps with me :) *Aw* I love my doggie :D

Anyway, the house was nice, but not a Mr. Leon House (Mr. Leon is Matt and Katie's dad). Once you get used to looking, you can just tell when a house is one Mr. Leon has built. LOL, after ten years of walking through house after house that he's built, I've become pretty good at identifying his work.

Hmm, that came out really stuck up. LOL, I didn't mean it like that XD

But anyway, so far today has been good, but pretty chill. Tonight, though, at Matt and Katie's house... O.O :) That's really gonna be something to post about XD

Oh, a quick word about Avatar for those of you who might be wondering what I thought of it:

On a scale of 1-10, my personal rating is about 5, maybe 6. The graphics were AMAZING, absolutely stunning. The acting was fine, the script was fine, but the plot...the plot (in my opinion) wasn't very good.

Plot (no spoilers): The American army is trying to get to this really awesome, valuable rock found on the planet Pandora. Unfortunately, the Na'vi, who live on Pandora, have a village right over the bed of really awesome, valuable rock. The American army wants the rock.

Whoo hoo XD

That wouldn't have been so bad if the villains hadn't been so BLAH. The main "evil guy", an American colonel, is mean for one reason only: the wants the rock.

...

What? That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to be a raving mad evil guy determined to kill everyone in his way?

I didn't think so either.

He was VERY two-dimensional, which is especially pathetic because we saw it in freaking 3D ;)

One last issue:

The movie portrays Na'vi (eco-friendly natives who want nothing but peace and happen to be sitting on a valuable resource) as the terrorists of the real world. The movie then portrays the crazed American army who will stop at nothing to get at the resource as America.

Think I'm reading too much into this? I am not. The comparison is fairly in-your-face. Notice the phrases "shock and awe" and "preemptive strike". Whoever made the movie was clearly trying to show the American army as evil and the terrorists as victims. If you like that sort of thing, fine. I did not.

So, that's my take on the movie. I did not really like it. I may want to see it again, but I was disappointed greatly.

Vets, Colds, and Computers

First things first: followers are the greatest! I only wish my retarded computer would load the page so I could see who my fortieth follower WAS. *growls* I can't quite remember their name. It's like just4god or something...*moan* I'm sorry I can't properly recognize you! If the page will load for anyone else, please tell me who follower number 40 is, will you? Thanks, and thanks just4god or whatever for following! Yay! 40 followers! I never thought I'd see the day.

Second things second: Word Day! And my word is: desconsolado.

First person to explain that to me gets an award. We all know it will be Cavender, but let's wait and see for sure.

Third things third: Today was okay. Mostly. I finished the Da Vinci Code, which was *very* good, took my dog to the vet, ran out of tissues for my cold, had a rough afternoon, ate a great dinner, watched Wizards of Waverly Place with the family, ate a slice of pizza, pretzels, and a Go-Gurt, then here I am. And my chin is itching...hopefully it isn't poison ivy.

So, basically, I have a cold, my dog has a double ear infection, I'm too full, and I thought about Him a lot today.

Still had a good day. My chin itches.

Last night at like midnight, I wrote like a page and a half of "Mirror". It's okay. It's a little more formal than the rest of the book, though. Weird. My writing style kind of tends to mimic whatever I'm reading at the moment, and The Da Vinci Code is written with slightly bigger-than-usual words, so I guess that's rubbing off on me.

We finally got a new router for the computer! Yay! It was going great until like...just now. Great. It's SLOWER THAN MOLASES again. We have such rotten computer luck.

Oh, I also have a new gadget, the page-hit counter! I started it at 1000, because I figure in the year I've had this blog, surely it must have been visited that many times. I was going to start at 100 instead, but I accidentally clicked "finish" or whatever before I had the chance.

Gracias to everyone who liked my eye yesterday, lol! Lizzy's amazing with cameras.

I hate how boring I am today. I'm sorry.

Farewell! (Fairwell?)

Hey! I just got finisned packing my one allowed duffle bag with mid-thigh length shorts and a secret stash of rice krispy treats! I also just washed the dog. Now my hands smell like doggie and shampoo...

I don't think I can post for long, we're doing housework. Tomorrow, a ton of family is coming, including my favorite aunt! And I won't be here! *sob* About the time they're getting here, I'll be almost at our destination...yikes!

Lizzy is pretty nervous, and I'm...*very* surprisingly NOT. I can't believe how UN-nervous I am! I'm totally excited!

OMG! Today is Carpe Noctem Day! I have a whole post to put together! *screams* How am I supposed to think deep and controversial thoughts in like five minutes?

Okay, well, this is the last time I will be posting on Carpe Diem until Saturday, August 1st. If you are going to miss so much you can't wait until then, I, along with all the other youth, will be blogging every (ish) night on the youth trip, and you can read that here. I don't know that you'll be able to comment, though, and I'm *sure* I won't be able to respond.

My List of the Evening

To be honest, I had a terrible evening. I think... I'm going to list good stuff and bad stuff and try to make myself be positive by forcing myself to come up with at least one more good thing than bad. Here it goes:

1. We had to go shoe shopping. (BAD)
2. I was in a bad mood. So was my mom. (BAD)
3. I found a PERFECT pair of shoes that I LOVED, and that made my giant feet look good! (GOOD)
4. They didn't have my size in stock. (SUPER SUPER BAD)
5. The shoe department guy offered to call other stores in our area to see if they had my size (GOOD)
6. They didn't. (BAD)
7. My mom and I had a small fight and she walked out of the store. (BAD)
8. She kindly (sort of) offered to take me to other shoe stores. (GOOD)
9. I saw nothing I liked at the first three. (BAD)
10. I saw some I liked at store four. (GOOD)
11. They didn't actually have the shoe, it was just on display (WHAT?!). (BAD)
12. I never found shoes to wear to this thing I have to have shoes for on Friday night. (BAD)
13. My mom and I went to Wal-Mart very mad. (BAD)
14. We saw these really awesome friendly people that we know there who cheered me up a little. (GOOD!)
15. We found everything we wanted at Wal-Mart. (GOOD)
16. The cashier lady was sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooower than Christmas. (BAD)
17. The stupid deoderant thingie didn't have a barcode on it so the mean cashier lady wouldn't let us buy it even though we were also buying a practically identical one (GRRRR). (BAD)
18. We went to Starbucks.
19. The lady who helped us was sooooooo nice and sympathetic about our crappy evening. (GOOD)
20. My double chocolate chip frappichino was very good. (GOOD)
21. My mom and became friends again over coffee ;) (GOOD)
22. I read some of the book I brought with me. (GOOD)
23. We were late picking up my sister from dance class. (BAD, not too bad though)
24. I wanted a Rice Krispie treat, and my mom forgot that she said I could walk over to the store next door and get it, so she was mildly upset. (A little bit BAD)
25. She drove me to the store (like forty feet away from the dance place, lol). (GOOD)
26. The guy who checked out my stuff was verrrrrrrrrrrry nice.
27. I decided to be generous (haha) and buy my mom and sister a treat, too. (GOOD)
28. They were happy with me. (GOOD)
29. We listened to my iPod on the way home. (GOOD)
30. My dog was happy to see me when we got home :) (GOOD)

Okay, wow. That really helped. I came up with 12 bad things, and 15 good things (only that's imposisble because I have 30 things....oh well. Dont' feel like recounting :) ). And I don't feel so upset and sad now! Man, I should try this more often! ;) Carpe diem!

On Second Thought

My dog is sad.

I have a cold or allergies or something cause I feel like CRAP today.

I can't sleep here.

This house is too big.

My room is always freezing, and the main floor is always hot. (I'm used to it being the other way around, and I LIKED IT THAT WAY, THANKS.)

Our water tastes NASTY.

I love cable TV.

And...that was my day.

Oh, yeah, and class was awesome.
