White Hearts

Thanks for following, Tay, Ruthie (although I was sure you were already following...O.o I'm loosing it XD) and Hanner! New followers shock me. But they delight me, too, so it's okay XD

So far the poll it telling me that y'all want...

- About my life [Seriously? I'm so boring XD]
- Creative stuff [*gets out thinking cap*]
- Funny stuff [I'm not funny :D]

Then it's a three-way tie between My writing, Thought-provoking posts and My thoughts and opinions. Y'all are clearly not in this for the intellectual aspect.

JUST KIDDING. I luv you guys XD

Well, today was...interesting.

I only have about three more weeks of school left, which is great and everything, but it means we're closing in on finals--FAST. I have plenty to do to get ready, let's just say that. I'm so much looking forward to being done, though. I can't even remember the last time I was so ready to be finished with school. I used to like school. This year, I've kind of hated it all year :-/ So yeah. Lots of finals coming up, and a Lincoln-Douglas debate, which is so overwhelming that I don't even want to explain it >.<

We dissected a sheep's heart today. It was white. I guess I know that it's just the blood that makes a heart red, but that still surprised me.

Creative stuff.

Eat dinner with your left hand.

How's THAT for creative? Actually, it's not. I got it from Kyle. XD

Well, I'm really kind of distracted and not much of a poster today XD I'll talk to y'all later :)
P.S. Cavender's ankle isn't broken, it's sprained. Keep praying :)

Today. And Tomorrow.

So, hi :) I don't have any more character introductions ready just yet, so today is going to be a plain post. A not-too-long plain post :)

Today I was tired. (Four hours of sleep.)
Today I was nervous. (Ill-prepared debate.)
Today I was freaked out. (Big, black grasshopper dissection.)
Today I was pained. (Headaches suck.)

Today I giggled. (My short hair makes for cute pigtails XD)
Today I wore my coat ALL DAY. (Just a cold-natured person.)
Today I answered useless Facebook questions. (Boredom.)
Today I poked a grasshopper's stomach. (Dissection.)

Today I plan to write. (Ashlyn's story.)
Today I plan to read. ("Intertwined" by Gena Showalter.)
Today I plan to watch Alias. (Sark <3)
Today I plan to go to bed early. (Four hours of sleep.)

Today I didn't make my bed. (Shh!!)
Today I didn't doodle in math. (I'm trying to try, LOL XD)
Today I didn't remember to print two copies of my school assignment. (Fail D:)
Today I didn't straighten my hair. (Too tired. And pigtails.)

Tomorrow I will do my best in school. (Because I should.)
Tomorrow I will go to dance. (Because I love it.)
Tomorrow I will text Cavender. ('Cuz I do.)
Tomorrow I will wash my clothes. ('Cuz I need to. Rly bad.)

The Weekly "Most" Awards for Schoolwork

So far, the leading Days in the schedule poll are

#1: Character Day
#2: God Day
#3: Fact or Fiction and Name Day

If you want that to change, vote :)

So, yesterday was the first day back at school. So far, I'm trying to be a better student than I was last semester. I got all good grades and everything, but I wasn't trying my best by any stretch of the imagination.

The Weekly "Most" Awards for Schoolwork

Latin - the Most Surprising
I actually don't hate Latin this semester :O Instead of memorizing junk that's too hard and not that important in real life, we're using our skills to read Caesar's battle notes! How cool is that?? I was like, "AWESOME!!!"

British Lit - the Most (*struggles for the word...and can't find it* -.-) Unique/Unusual/New Assignment
We have to learn to take notes on a book. We're using "A Passage to India" and we have to keep a written list of the characters in the front of the book, write summaries above each chapter, write summaries for each page, circle words we don't know (then look them up and write the definitions in the margins). I think that's a cool assignment. A really good skill to get before college.

Music History - the Most Enjoyable
Basically, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring is GENIUS and Debussy's La Mer is right behind. I LOVE THOSE. And the final in this class will be to be able to recognize a piece by hearing a random ten-second clip of it. No sweat. Audio is my best way of learning. This is gonna be a cinch. A really FUN cinch XD

Biology - the Most the Same
...pretty self-explanatory.

Drama - the Most Easy
We read a play out loud in class, and that's all. We don't even have any homework in this class. And it's pretty fun, too. We're reading "Harvey" right now, and it's great.

Debate - the Most Disappointing
Blegh.

Math - the Most Boring
*zzzzzz*

The end :D

Dance tonight! Yay! Talk to y'all later!

Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth...

Hell, or biology final tomorrow?

Take a wild guess.

Note: "Same thing" will also be an accepted answer.

You

I'm studying DNA and genes in biology this week; you know, what makes you, you. Your DNA controls your physical characteristics almost entirely. You can lift weights or something to get stronger, of course, but there's actually a limit to how far you can go. Your DNA determines that limit.

But what about our thoughts and personalities? I've been told that I "act just like my mom" sometimes, but is that because of my DNA, or my mom's influence on me throughout my life? Hmm.

Peoples' personalities are (obviously) very different. I can't figure some people out, and other I understand perfectly. Some people love the color purple, and others (like me) find it a horrible color for whatever reason (sorry, purple-lovers :)). Some love to read, others don't. Some think Obama is the best thing since remote controls, others think it wouldn't hurt him to be a little less like one.

I have often wondered what makes us who we are. DNA to some extent, parental influence to some, God shaping us to some as well, but who are WE?

What is YOU?

I don't mean what do you like. I don't mean when you go shopping and see a cute jacket that is "so you". I mean what are you. Where is the "you" in your body? What makes you, YOU?

If I cut off your finger, is that finger "you"?

Well, yes and no...It's PART of you, but it's not really YOU...

Okay, so you aren't in your finger.

I tend to think people are in their heads. But it's not as if you could dissect someone's brain and find a little piece inside that's "them".

So...what makes us who we are?

It's our minds, yes. Our thoughts. But what are thoughts? Just electric impulses in our brains? How do little electric impulses tell us right and wrong, what to like, how to act? How do little electric impulses make us love to read, or write, or go horseback riding, or paint? How do little electric impulses tell us to be scared, happy, sad, or excited? How do little electric impulses make us love and hate?

Maybe we'll never really know what thoughts are. Maybe people DO know and I just don't yet :) But it's really kind of interesting, isn't it? What separates "you" from "your body"? What are thoughts?

Just something to think about ;)

P.S. Don't forget to vote in the writing poll! Here are some brief descriptions of each story (None of them are complete except "A Spark of Strength"):

The Girl and the Ring: About a mysterious Girl, her "cursed" pirate ring, and her gang of orphans thieves in England during the 1800s. Written when I was 12 or 13. A little over 2000 words long.

The Magic Ring: An average girl named Katelyn gets a mysterious ring from her grandparents. Written when I was 12 or 13. A little over 4000 words long.

A Spark of Strength: Six fire fairy slaves are forced to entertain the the evil Fire Lord. One night things get too much for them to take and they run away--dragging an unexpected helper with them. In the midst of hiding from the Fire Lord, they encounter an interesting elf who may ruin Ember's love life forever. A little over 24,000 words long. Completed. Written when I was 12-14 years old.

Desirae Mayes: Desirae is a writer and a dreamer with a powerful imagination. Maybe too powerful? When her characters are suddenly alive and in the real world, she realizes that writing fantasy and living are two very different things. And maybe it's a good thing she's not God after all...3000 words long. Written a couple of months ago. (I may try to finish it later.)

The Strange Lives of Zillah and Ria: Two sisters, suddenly kidnapped to another world. They meet two brothers and another strange companion who reveals their true heritage. Almost 15,000 words. Written when I was 12.

You. Help. Now.

Hey!

WOW, it's been a while!

I have written a proper post in at least a week. Yesterday I was going out of my mind trying to finish this art grant project for art history and study for the biology mid-term that I hadn't started studying for yet.

For the art grant project we have to come up with an art or cultural project that we want the government to fund. We have to put together a presentation trying to convince the class that we should recieve the grant money.

My project is called (at least right now) the Historical Reality Project. Basically, it would be an interactive, virtual reality walk through American history. It's geared to kids with learning disabilities in hopes that "living" history for themselves will help them understand and retain information better.

The project is going fine, but I'm not sure how to make it AMAZING, you know? My visual aids could use some work. I was just going to throw together a poster, but...

OUR TEACHER EXTENDED THE DEADLINE FOR THE PROJECT!!

We have an extra week; yay! So now I have time to make a more exciting visual aid, but what? Hmm...

I'm definitely looking forward to getting caught up in my work. I'm tired of playing catch up all the time. I hate constantly feeling behind. Mostly in Latin, art history, math and a little in biology.

Haha, so basically everything but logic and BritLit. Shocking.

I'm definitely wanting to get back to Mirror. See?? I told you I'd come around :) The passion for the story is back, now all I need is a plotline...

Okay, I really do need help with that, so I'm going to ask you to randomly brainstorm with me. If you are reading this, come up with something crazy, random, exciting, realistic, romantic, mysterious or funny. Or anything. Just come up with something, click "comments", type your idea, and click, "publish". Those three steps could help me finish this book, y'all! Your helps is appreciated ;)

And I'll know if you came and didn't do that because I watch the page hit counter.

Lols ;)

Well, I don't have much else to say. I'm going to go finish watching National Treasure with my family :) Thanks in advance for your help!

Memory Day and Lil' Miss...POPULAR??

FIRST THINGS FIRST: NEW FOLLOWER!!!!!!!!!!! :O Thanks, Kevin the Awesome for following! :D :D :D Made my day! Well, it was already made (read on), but you made it even further ;)

EDIT: *SCREAMS AT TOP OF LUNGS* SPARKLE4JC12 IS ALSO A NEW FOLLOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O :O :O :O IS THIS JUST FOLLOW-CARPE-DIEM DAY OR WHAT??

I AM SO PSYCHED! OMG! I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE THIS! DO YOU PEOPLE REALIZE I AM ONE FOLLOWER AWAY FROM MY LONG-TIME-SECRET GOAL OF FIFTY (50) FOLLOWERS??????

*SCREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMS*

Sorry.
------------------------------
Memory Day:

The place where my church meets, there is a “huge” dirt hill. At least, it was “huge” when my friends and I were nine years old. I played on that hill with my friends every chance I got. We played on it after church, after Wednesday night Bible study, even after the classes for our homeschool group that met at the the church building. We played slaves on it after church and Bible study, but after homeschool classes, the Hill became a place of war. We homeschool kids had divided ourselves into two teams, and we battled for control over the Hill.

Needless to say, that hunk of dirt and weeds was a big part of our lives.

We loved playing on it. It was the best playground imaginable. We had trails coming off of it, we had carved steps into the back side, there was a hole in the side for treasure, it was a kids paradise.

That’s probably why the news of its planned demolition hit us so hard.

Well, it hit me hard anyway. When I found out the Hill was scheduled to be destroyed and flattened out to make the church yard a prettier-looking place, I was devastated. I asked my dad if he would tell the bulldozer guy not to do it. My dad said that the hill really did need to go; it was ugly and not useful to anyone. I kept pestering him, though. Finally he told me that if I loved the hill so much, I should do something about it myself.

Being, well, ME, I began plotting what to do, and decided that I would make a petition. I grabbed a piece of lined paper before homeschool group one day and labeled it Save The Hill. I went around telling the kids what I was doing, and before long, I had a ton of signatures. I did the same thing at church the next week. By the time I was finished, the paper had almost a hundred signatures. When the guy came to destroy the hill, I showed him the paper, and told him why we wanted the hill to stay. He actually listened to me, a little nine-year-old girl.

I finished explaining and held my breath. He shrugged.

"Okay.”

I was speechless. My idea had actually worked! The Dirt Hill is alive today, and still sitting happily behind the church building :)
------------------------------
Well, play practice is just one big YAY after another! I had another one tonight, and it went probably the best yet. Gosh, people are so nice to me, I almost wonder if they want something from me. It's utterly ridiculous! All these popular people are coming up to me and talking to me. I really wonder if there's a catch to their friendship...The kindness is awesome, and I like everyone a lot, but it's crazy!

Things That Happened At Practice:
1. I got a compliment on my hair being so pretty.
2. I got a compliment on my pig tails.
3. I got a compliment on how cute my purse is.
4. I got asked if I had a Facebook by four people.
5. I got invited to someone's Sweet 16.
6. Someone made someone else move so they could sit beside of me.

*blink*

:O

Did I MISS something??? I don't think I'm really this giant popular-girl magnet! And get this: Mr. Lead Singer Who Plays Shang-the-Captain passes me and goes, "Hi, Kendra!"

*eyes bug*

:O

I hate to get used to this. I love it, probably more than is healthy, LOL, but it can't last, right? I mean...hmm...Any thoughts? I don't want to seem like an ignorant "home-schooler", but does anyone have any advice/guidance/suggestions/theories? Are these people just super awesome and nice, or is something going on?

You know what I think? I think I'm just too darn suspicious of everyone! LOL!

As for the singing, I wasn't sure what I was (alto/soprano), so the music lady made me an alto. Turns out, I usually sing soprano harmony. I CAN sing alto, no problem, I just natually hear the soprano and so it's hard for me not to slide up to that. I'm getting better, though.

Okay, anyway.

Classical went well today. We're getting back to our full selves now. It takes us a little while to get our class chemistry back. Cassidy is getting to see the real us more and more...*evil laugh* Hopefully we won't scare her off :P

Ben (the Dare Devil) got to read something something with a British accent, as he requested. I thought he would totally butcher it, but it was completely authentic-sounding. I was impressed.

We looked at a tape worm and some bacteria under the microscope. The tape worm had eyes. *blinkshudder* Ickkkk. And the bacteria was boring. But we also looked at a Hydra Budding, and that was AWESOME. It seriously just looked like a magenta squid. Very cool.

Well, I guess that's all that's been going on...

Thanks for reading, talk to you later! :D :D :D :D Don't forget, theories on people being so nice are more than welcome :)

P.S. Vote in the poll! Pretty pleaseeeee :D

Nostalgia

Quote Day:

“The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idolized past.”–Robertson Davies

So, today was the first day of school at home.

*groan*

NOW I remember why I prayed for summer. Doing school for 8 grueling hours with no rest will do that for you. And I'm still not done. I have stuff to do still, but it's BritLit, so it's not that bad.

Subject Rundown:

Latin: Somebody just shoot me. Either the exercises are so easily I want to throw myself off a building, or they're so hard I want to throw myself off a building.

BritLit: Awesome! Interesting, not too hard, great! I love literature!

Art History: Ugh, it sounds fun, but there's SO MUCH TO DO! We have to read all these books, write all these papers, memorize all the stuff about famous pictures, make a timeline of all the big music and art stuff we come across. It's just too much! I really like the books (How Shall We Then Live? and State of the Arts), but there's just too much to do.

Debate: Challenging, but fun, like last year. It's basically the exact same thing as last year.

Biology: Not really hard, just a lot of stuff to read over and work sheets to do. It's not good or bad yet.

Logic: Ridiculously easy, not fun, not what I love, and it's so disappointing! I love logic, but this isn't "real" logic. *scowls*

Alebra 1 (um, again): Do I even have to say anything?

Overall, *sob* I miss Challenge I!! Oh my gosh! You really never realize how good you have it until you're gone! I hate this! I *LOVED* Challenge I! It was, like, the best year of my whole life! (Challenge B was pretty awesome, too, though...). *SOBSOBSOB*

I just CANNOT live in the present, can I?? I was living so in the past last year that I missed the complete and utter AWESOMENESS of the year! And now I'm doing it again! I'll never learn.

But this year really does suck (so far...day two).

And last year really did rock beyond all freakin' compare.

Other than that rant, I have nothing to say. I feel like I'm just barely keeping my head above water, and school has BARELY started.

:'(

Next year when I say that Challenge III sucks and that Challenge II was amazing, come over and kick me, would you?

*sob*

P.S. Vote in the poll, s'il vous plait.
