Disney Disguise

Hey, y'all! As my awesome friend Lia pointed out, I'm finally having my birthday party this Saturday! I haven't really had an actual birthday party since I was fourteen, so I'm excited :D I'm also excited because I think the party theme is just awesome, if I do say so myself:

Disney Disguise.

Oh yes. It's a costume party! Everyone dresses up like their favorite classic Disney character! (Well, it doesn't HAVE to be your FAVORITE, and it doesn't have to be a princess. Pirates of the Caribbean or the Incredibles works too :D) There will be games for each princess and a dinner made up of food from all the different countries where the princesses live :)

Do I really need to even tell you who I'm going to be? Just in case you haven't looked at my profile...

I'm going to be Belle!

While Aladdin might still be my favorite Disney movie, you gotta admit that Beauty and the Beast is the best love story out there, and I happen to be a lot like Belle. The only challenge was finding a costume.

I decided right away that I didn't want the yellow dress, you know, the one she wears to the ball or whatever. It's gorgeous, but I wanted to be Belle when she's just her plain ol' self in the blue dress.

I could have ordered a costume. If I happened to have EIGHTY-NINE DOLLARS JUST LYING AROUND XD Which I do not. So I did not. But yesterday rolled around and I still just had some sketchy ideas about how to make a Belle costume, and I was beginning to worry that I would have the worst costume of all--at my own party.

But, like the last-minute heroes they are, my mom and Lizzy went to Goodwill last night while I was at dance and found a couple of things.

I won't tell you how amazing it is, because that might ruin the surprise when I post pictures later ;) But needless to say, OH MY GOSH I LOVE IT IT'S PERFECT IT'S SO AWESOME--

*clears throat*

So yeah. My party is Saturday, and I'm totally psyched.

If You're Pushed for Time, Just Read the Italic Portion at the End

Wow, I've been terrible at posting. Like, really awful.

My birthday was great, I got four new books and the movie "Brigadoon." The books I got are "The Forest of Hands and Teeth," "Tex," "Incarceron" and "Across the Universe." I've read "Forest" and "Tex" and I'm on "Incarceron." I plan on posting some review-esque posts soon :)

I used to LOVE the movie "Brigadoon" when I was really little and we haven't been able to find it for years and years. We watched it the night of my birthday and it was really sweet :) Some lines and especially some songs brought back waves of childhood memories. The dancing in the movie is really great, too. I guess I was too little to appreciate that when I was five XD

Last Friday was the Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance. It was basically like prom only with better music and dads instead of awkward guys. I had a blast :D Pictures possibly soon, my friend's dad took them and they haven't appeared on Facebook yet...

Yesterday, in case you don't know, was Valentine's Day :D I had a good one. We went out to dinner as a family + my grandma. The restaurant was actually the same one my dad and I had gone to before the Father-Daughter Dance. We saw the same cute waiter :3 He told me to have a good night. That may or may not have MADE my night...

I got to drive home :) Yes, in case I never officially said so, I got my permit :) I plan to post more on that later also...

So basically my life has been fine. Up until tonight. When something devastating happened (don't get too upset, I suppose I'm probably being a little melodramatic). First, a little back story.

Have you ever heard of the show Happy Days? If you haven't, you should watch it, because it's genius. It's set in the 50s and 60s and it's about this teenager named Richie and his friends. My personal favorite character is Fonzie, the greaser who's a shocking blend of freaking TOUGH and surprisingly profound.

Anyway, I started watching Happy Days every night at 10 o'clock around Thanksgiving when I was going through some internal crap XD It was so hilarious and fun and took my mind off things. I watched the two episodes and went to bed neatly at 11 o'clock. I went to bed happy and laughing over some of the lines.

If I was having a bad day, it was okay because I could watch Happy Days at 10 o'clock.
If I was stressed about school, I could make it through because I could watch Happy Days at 10 o'clock.
If I was struggling with what to do about something, there was a chance that I'd find wisdom in Happy Days at 10 o'clock.

Happy Days was something happy, something constant, something perfect and reliable that I could count on every night to make every day happy. Lately I've actually said during the day, "I'm so excited--Happy Days comes on tonight!"

XD
I know, I'm a complete dork. But a happy one. This evening was great because I was looking forward to my daily dose of Fonzie and my close-second-favorite ChaChi. Good ol' reliable 10 o'clock rolled around and--

Holy mother of feathered cow gerbils. No Happy Days.

Yes. You read that right. No. Happy. Days. The show does not come on at good ol' reliable 10 o'clock, just in time for me to go to bed neatly at 11. No Fonzie. No ChaChi. No wisdom. No laughter. No happiness. Nothing to get me through the day or cheer me up.

I realize that it is only a TV show. I realize that it is not the end of the world. I realize that I really need to get a life outside of watching actors who are now pushing 50 years old IRL. But when I read "Next: Family Ties" I died a little inside. I am way more devastated than I should be.

I thought I could never hate Michael J. Fox.

I was wrong.

Well, Folks, It's That Time of Year Again...

No, not the Super Bowl -_- My BIRTHDAY.

I have a little over 12 hours left of being sixteen.

Sixteen was good. In fact, it was pretty great. I went to the beach with a bunch of friends, went to prom for the first time, vacationed in Florida, almost had a boyfriend, read all the Harry Potter books, got accepted to go to Europe, and finally got my permit! Not a bad year, not a bad year at all :)

However. I am completely ready and eager to leave sweet sixteen behind. I'm excited for my birthday. I mean, I'm actually smiling and happy and bouncy and waiting for the clock to get to tomorrow. To be perfectly honest, I don't remember EVER feeling excited about my birthday before. I'm usually anxious and apprehensive and totally paranoid that I won't enjoy it enough. This year, I'm just plain excited. Old-fashioned excited. Little-kid excited.

My birthday's tomorrow.
My birthday's tomorrow.
My BIRTHDAY'S tomorrow!

Yippee :D

I have it all planned out so that I have NO SCHOOL WORK to do! Tomorrow is all mine. I will be "sexy seventeen" and it's going to be freaking AWESOME.

Gosh, a whole day. Whatever will I do with my aging self? :D

Kendra's 500 Begins!

*FANFARE PLAYS*

WOOOOOT! Can you believe it?? ~Carpe Diem!~ is two years old! It's a toddler! It's speaking in full sentences! Soon it should hit the terrible twos...um...great...

But it's also the 500th Post Celebration!!!

Do you know what this means?????questionmark?

I gotta post 500 of something. I'll spend hours and hours trying to figure out things that would hold your attention and interest you and not seem narcissistic.

And then you won't actually READ all 500 things anyway...>.>

SO.

I got to thinking.

What if I milked this a little? What if I spread my 500 things over the course of a couple of weeks? Give it to you in pieces that wouldn't require you to pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, buckle down and stay glued to my blog for an hour and a half?

I figured, that might be nice.

I've put my 500 things into convenient little bundles of 10. I have 50 different categories of awesome, so what if I post, say, 3 a day for a little while?

Yes, I realize this would have been better if I'd had a COUNTDOWN to my 500th post instead of STARTING this at the big five-oh-oh, but hey, good ideas can come better late than never, right? :D

Also, this smaller-bits-at-a-time idea is NOT a result of Kendra waiting until 11:12 at night to think of 500 freaking things.

I hope you're not mad :( I honestly do have 355 things already. Only about 150 to think of.

Anyway, without further adeu, the first 3 categories in Kendra's 500...

*drumroll* (<-- Does that hurt your eyes? 'Cause it hurts my eyes.)

Things I Am

1. Friendly
2. Stubborn
3. Ambitious
4. Persuasive
5. A writer
6. Unique
7. Confusing
8. Complicated
9. A screw-up
10. A Christian

Things I'm Not
11. A jealous person
12. A fake
13. Dull
14. Wishy-washy
15. A touchy-feely person
16. A Justin Bieber fan
17. A Justin Bieber hater
18. Quiet
19. Stupid
20. Normal

I Plan On...

21. Going to Wake Forest
22. Majoring in political science
23. Minoring in philosophy
24. Getting married
25. Having kids
26. Writing
27. Arguing
28. Staying up late
29. Making mistakes
30. Living for God

Hopefully, I'll see you next time, when Kendra's 500 continues!

Blog Birthday?? :O

This is post 499. The next time I post, it'll be in celebration!

But guess what I also realized today? Thursday, the 11th, will be ~Carpe Diem~'s TWO-YEAR-OLD BIRTHDAY! :O

Last year I completely missed my blog's birthday. And I felt horrible. This year, the birthday might be swallowed up in the big 500 post. Unless...

I just put the posts together :) I'm planning to dedicate 100 things to ~Carpe Diem~, and the other 400...you'll have to wait and see!

~Kendra

Friday, July 2, 2010

Hey :)

I am forcing myself to blog. Because I've been neglecting poor little Carpe Diem. But in a way I guess that shows a good thing? That I'm Carpe-ing my Diem and not on the computer as much?

What have I been up to lately. Hmm.

Well, on Tuesday I went to Cassidy's 18th birthday party! We went to a hotel and swam and ate and talked. Then we went to the midnight premier of Eclipse! It was actually very good. It stuck to the book beautifully, and Kristin Stewart only sucked mostly instead of completely XD Edward even had a couple of parts where I didn't hate his guts. And Jacob was awesome.

There was just one thing.

Here.

Yeah. The movie opens with a guy screaming his lungs out. And then there are like four more times with guys shrieking bloody murder. I was like O.O *crumples in the seat*

XD Amanda and Kirsten, the girls I was sitting with, weren't aware of my...issue. It was kind of funny.

Other than that, quite a good movie XD

After the movie, we went back to the hotel and hung out and ate stuff and talked. We went to bed around 4:30 and woke up at 8:30 to go eat continental breakfast. I had a really awesome time, even though there were no blueberry muffins D: Isn't that, like, a hotel-breakfast-standard? Apparently not :'(

Today, Daniel, David, this girl named Alden, her FREAKING AWESOME six-year-old brother named Elijah, and some other people came over and we hung out at the lake all day. I got tanner :D WooT! We also watched "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Great movie XD

So, the past few days have been awesome. Which is good, because the days before that sucked.

I'm beginning to see a pattern. Horrible, great, horrible, great, horrible, great. Whatever happened to days that were in the middle? Hmm. *shrug*

Day Five On This Alien Cloud of Joy

It's not like I don't feel the sad/crappy/annoying/suckish things that happen, it's just like they roll off because I have better reasons to be happy.

School is going fine. Nothing to report there.

Writing is nonexistent. But I'll get inspired sooner or later.

Family is a'ight, which is basically as good as it gets XD

Sickness is getting better. Now my throat just hurts, but I think it's from coughing. I got sick of being sick yesterday and decided I'd be done with it today. So far so good. I've scheduled myself to be 150% back to normal by Saturday at the latest, lol :D

Guess what happened Monday? ELLIE (bff :D) TURNED SWEET SIXTEEN!!!!!!! WooT! :D

Music: I'm swimming in glorious iTunes cash from my birthday :D And I want more music. But I'm being really picky and I can't find anything I want. I dunno. Any suggestions? In general, I have really eclectic taste in music. However, I don't do country, Disney stars trying to sound sexy, or praise-and-worship type stuff (like, I don't really enjoy Michael W. Smith, lol). So...lol, if you're dying to help me out, I need music XD

Other awesomeness: Cavender is coming to church on Sunday :) And then he's coming to my house, then to a friend's birthday party with me. Awesome.

That's all. kBai.

Beach

I can't believe I haven't mentioned it much before. But, guess what?

I'm going to the beach with some people for my Sweet 16 :D We're leaving today and coming back Saturday. I might have internet, but even if I do, I probably won't post XD I'll be busy having lots of fun. I'll let you know how it was when I get back, but for now, goodbye!

If you wouldn't mind saying a prayer for safety and for us not to be too swamped in schoolwork while we're there, that would be great, lol :) Thanks, y'all!

~Kendra

P.S. I may have Kyle update if something REALLY MONUMENTAL happens. Like if we crash into the ocean or something. That'd be pretty monumental. Or if I decide to move to the beach. Or if we discover cold fusion by accident. Something like that. Or maybe just if we're having a really epic time. We shall see.

kBai.

Epic Post From Your Own Personal Epic Now-Sixteen-Year-Old Blogger :D

Table of Contents:
1. I am back.
2. Our power went out.
3. MY SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY.
4. Thanks, God!
5. Thanks, friends!
6. Thanks, Y'ALL for being awesome about my hair!

I'm baaaaaaaaack! :)

Our power went out Friday at 4 o'clock. I was like :O

*clears her throat and revisits the land of good word choices and articulation*

Sorry. I had a replace-descriptive-words-with-smilies moment. Won't happen again.

I have so much to say! I don't even know where to begin. First, I'd like to say that I am now officially sixteen years old.

Sweet. Six. Teen.

*smiles hugely*

Instead of starting at the beginning of this weekend, I think I'll skip the parts where I couldn't take a shower and had to read by faux candle light (batteries FTW) and get straight to Sunday, February 7th. My birthday. My sixteenth birthday.

(Notice I'm saying that a lot. It's in an effort to brainwash myself into realizing the truth, that I am OLD :P)

I woke up at 7:10 because I was tired of trying to pretend I was asleep. You know how that is when you're really excited/nervous and you keep closing your eyes, hoping you'll just lose consciousness again? Well, I feel like I did that all night, at least when I wasn't violently dreaming.

For those of you who may not know, I get nervous about my birthdays. Very nervous. Birthdays only come ONE DAY A YEAR, and it's the one day that everyone is nice to you, and you get to do what you want. So you better enjoy it.

D: Pressure!

I always feel like I MUST ENJOY THE DAY and, being how I am, that usually ruins it for me. I'm getting better though. This year and last year I've gotten a hold of myself and actually had great birthdays (even though last year I had driver's ed on my birthday D:).

So anyway, after I drug myself out of bed, I went upstairs and ate half a bagel, after my family sang Happy Birthday do me :) Then I opened my presents:

Lizzy - season one of Monster Quest XD (How great is that?)
Momma and Daddy - this necklace that goes with a dress I have, a shirt, and twilight woods body cream from Bath & Boyd Works.
Gr'anne - gift card to Barnes & Noble.
(then later)
Cavender - "Witch and Wizard" book.

EDIT: OMG MOMMA AND DADDY JUST CAME DOWNSTAIRS WITH A PRESENT THAT JUST GOT HERE! I LOVE IT! You might think I'm crazy. I might be. But I'm still happy to have this:

The New Testament. IN. LATIN.
END EDIT.

I was happy, but I also wished the power would come back on D: In all my life imagining my Sweet 16, I never envisioned it happening in the dark not able to flush a toilet XD

But anyway.

We normally get to church at 8:30 so the band can practice before church. However, since the building had no power, there would BE no band, and it would be really cold. So we decided not to head over until 9:45.

We got there like six seconds before Cavender. Possibly seven.

Church was good. Small (but still 45 people!), short, and quite cold. We ended with an a cappella Amazing Grace, which I was like -__- about. I don't like that song, and I REALLY hate singing a cappella. No music to cover my voice, so I end up singing really softly and sometimes not at all. *shrug* Oh well :D

After church, Daniel, David and Cavender all came back to our house and we ate hot dogs and white cheddar Cheez-its, which I love :D

After that, we went downstairs and played Balderdash. Have any of you heard of that game? Basically, someone draws a card with a strange word on it, and everyone has to make up their own definition for the word. The person holding the card writes down the real definition. Then, card-holder reads the real definition along with the fake submitted ones, and everyone has to vote for the definition they think is real. You get points for guessing correctly, points for fooling others, and if you're the card-holder and no one guesses the real definition, you get a point for that, too.

Personally, I think I should get points for being able to distinguish handwriting pretty well from the beginning without having to ask. Don't you agree? Three teenaged boys with similar handwriting...I rock. (Just kidding XD)

(On a side note, why do guys write so lightly? Or is it just Cavender and David and Daniel that do that?)

Anyway, back to the game of Balderdash that you guys don't care about but that I'm telling about anyway ;P

It was really fun. Most of the fun was in inside jokes ("A piece of land shaped like a tongue." "NO WAY. *glares* CAVENDER.") and just things that happened, so I won't go into them here. For the record, I will say that Cavender is very good at Balderdash.

'KAYFINEISAIDIT. He won XD

After Balderdash we picked up all the tons of trash paper it had created (we = *cough* me and Daniel *cough*).

Then we played Life. That was fun too XD I was a doctor, which translates to BIGMONEY in that game. Unfortunately, I still didn't win -_- I rolled mostly numbers 2-5 and lagged behind considerably. I refused to buy car insurance (I never do, I'm usually really lucky), and ended up having everything that could go wrong with a poor car XD I also didn't have a single kid D:

LOL, maybe it sounds like I had a bad day, but I didn't. It was so much fun. So much fun.

Even though Cavender won Life too -_- :P XD

THEN, David and Daniel had to go home, and my family and Cavender headed over to another friend's house to watch the Super Bowl since we still didn't have power. That was really fun :) I love my friends.

After we ate dinner and halfway watched "Failure to Launch" (how did I miss the dearly departed fiance and her kid??), my mom called us for birthday cookie!! I don't like cake all that much (I mean, I like it, but I like cookies better), so my mom made a giant, homemade chocolate chip cookie! I told my dad I didn't want them to sing to me again. I hate that awkward moment when everyone is singing and you're just like, "Heh...*looks around awkwardly*...thanks..." So, my dad got everyone not to sing.

They hummed it instead -_-

Then they whistled it.

And then my dad--heh, never mind.

Anyway, after (well, really while) we ate our big cookie slices, we tried to decide on a movie to watch on Netflix. We finally chose one, but before we got very far into it, it was halftime and we had to take Cavender home :(

My friend also has a cat, and I'm allergic to cats, so I had taken some Benadryl to help with the sneezing/itchy throat/watery eyes/cruddy feeling. I stopped sneezing, but Benadryl makes me...well...

Some people get drowsy on Benadryl. I get, like, high XD

Well, I mean, drowsy, but so intensely so that I'm completely loopy and out of it and nothing hits my brain, and I say...everything >.<

Luckily we dropped Cavender off before it really, uberly kicked in XD

On the way home, Mrs. Martha (Matt and Katie's mom) called my poor, dying phone (and no power to charge it!). She and everyone who was with them sang "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to me :) :) :) :) That was really awesome.

And then it got better.

"Happy birthday," said Katie when they were done singing. "And you have power."

:O

:D

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an amazing end to an amazing day!

My Sweet 16 was NOT how I planned it, not how I'd always envisioned it, and WAY out of my control and comfort zone, but guess what? It was wonderful :) Just another time when God has shown me that HEY, going with the flow and having fun really WILL make for a great experience.

So, thanks, God. You've been by my side for sixteen years helping me out, and having the power go out didn't change that one bit :)

Thanks also to any of my awesome friends that are reading this. Whether I hung out with you, or you said Happy Birthday to my Facebook, thanks :D

AAAAAAAND thanks to everyone who was so supportive about my hair the other day :) After I washed it and straightened it myself, I think it looks better, less ten-year-old-ish :D

In a nutshell:

My weekend was interesting. (I might possibly expand on that later.)
My birthday was AWESOME.
My friends are the BEST.
My God is the bestEST.

Bring on my sixteenth year. Fourteen was the best, Fifteen was better, and now Sixteen...wow, I just cannot imagine.

Bring.

It.

On.

Just T-Hair-ibble

I got a haircut yesterday. To explain to you how I feel, I'm going to use a quote from Simon of the "Mortal Instruments" trilogy:

"I don't like flat soda. I don't like crappy boy-band pop. I hate [my hair]. See the difference?"

I've regretted haircuts before, but never like this, never on the almost-eve of my sixteenth birthday. You know how my hair normally looks after I get it cut? I like it. I think it looks good. Well, I hate this. I hate it. Go read that quote again.

What the HECK was I thinking asking the haircut-lady to go shorter? If it ain't broke, don't freaking fix it, Kendra! Why-o-why!! I'm about to be sixteen, and I now look like I'm ten.

Ten.
TEN.

I really do.

Gosh, could this be any more exactly the opposite of what I want? I hate my hair. So much. I'm so upset >.<

It's completely my fault and everything, the lady did exactly what I asked her to. It's all my fault, and I look terrible.

I.

Look.

Ten.

*sob* Awwwwwwwwww >.<

Ellie, please call me next time I'm about to get a haircut and remind me not to go too short. We usually do that for each other, and I don't do it one time, and look at what happened? Goshhhhh.

Yeah, I know, it'll grow. It will. But not before Sunday. Not before I have pictures taken of my on my Sweet 16 looking like I should be in elementary school.

:(

Ugh. I am seriously quite depressed about this.

Eleven of Kendra's Kristmas Memories

Thanks for following (again) Steven! WooT!

Okay, let me just say this in case any of y'all missed it ;)

VOTE ON THE POLL ON THE RIGHT! Can we get all 81 followers to vote? Let's find out. So far there are 26 votes. Even if you round that to 30, we're still missing 51 votes. That is pitiful ;) Let's get it in gear and vote, shaaaaaaaaaall we?

So, tonight I'm going to a birthday celebration. Katie ("little sister") is going to be ELEVEN years old! :O And to think I knew her when she ate Cheerios while sitting on Mrs. Martha's lap during church...*sniff sniff* LOL :)

I watched another Alias episode today. No Mr. Sark. *sob* But it's getting even more interesting. It used to be that I liked the show, but it wasn't like this constant thing on my mind or anything. Now it feels like either I'm watching Alias, or I'm thinking about watching Alias! I really, really recommend it. Really. It is awesome.

Alrighty, time for the Christmas Countdown! Eleven...eleven...eleven...

Eleven of Kendra's Kristmas Memories:

1. When I was two, I got a dollhouse for Christmas from my grandparents! It. Was. Awesome. Three floors of awesome with a little family and some furniture! I loved that dollhouse and collected more people and stuff for years and years. I played with it pretty much all day from ages 2-9 (except when in school). Then I played it regularly from ages 10-13. Most of my stories started out as "dollhouse shows". The main games I played were orphans, slaves, poor people, weird cultures, and runaways :) Oh, yes, and brothers. Always lots of brothers. Always an older, usually a younger, but always brothers.

2. When I was very little, I don't even know how old, we had a rule: after the tree was decorated, no one is allowed to touch the tree or the ornaments. One day my grandpa, "Papa", was carrying me around, and he reached out and touched an ornament. I gasped in horror and cried, "PAPA! Did you touch it???" It was apparently really funny :)

3. I have lots of memories of cooking for the Open House.

4. Two years ago, I was begging for a phone for Christmas. Not a cellphone, just a phone for my room. So I could talk on the phone without having to take the one from downstairs. I really wanted a phone. I wrote out organized lists of why I should get one and gave them to my parents periodically. I organized speeches and discussions and debates on why I should get a phone for my room. Well, guess what? I GOT THE PHONE! It was white and metallicy green. I actually cried a little :') It was a great phone, but recently it's stopped working. *sigh*

5. I have lots of Open House memories. Last year, this guy at my church named Daniel provoked me into debating home-school vs. public school. Ugh, not pretty. Something about him brings out the absolute worst in me.

6. Four years ago when I was eleven and Lizzy was nine, my mom made chocolate chip cookie dough truffles for the Open House for the first time. Lizzy loved them. A lot. Too much. She ate thirteen of them. It was not a happy night, let me tell you that ;)

7. At my old church, there was this thing called...wait, what is it called...? Journey to Bethlehem. Anyway, people from church dressed up as the many different "characters" in the Christmas story and then everyone walked around and visited the different "stations". I don't remember if I liked it or not, though, LOL!

8. Last year, was an interesting Christmas. I got a cellphone, which was such an absolute shock that I started crying. Yeah, I actually cried. It was so utterly unexpected. I hadn't even been asking for a cellphone! I also got a straightener, an iPod, and a ton of other little things. It was basically the ideal Christmas, but, guess what? I actually wasn't happy. Last year should have been an amazing Christmas, but it wasn't for some reason. Stuff really doesn't make you happy, y'all. I know you've heard that a million times, but it's true. I don't expect you to believe me, I never believed it REALLY. It's just one of those live and learn things. But be prepared, because stuff just doesn't do it.

9. When I was about four, I got a hippity hop for Christmas! Do y'all know what those are? It's like this big rubber ball with a handle that you sit on and bounce. Here, picture. Well, I have this grandma. She's kind of no-nonsense; I actually don't think she likes me all that much. Well, guess what she did? She got on the hippity hop! She took one bounce, and...fell right into the Christmas tree! LOL! To a four year old, it was pretty hilarious :)

10. When I was maybe twelve, I had a Christmas party. We played all sorts of games, one of which was seeing how many words you could make with "Merry Christmas". I lost, and I was mad, LOL! I'm supposed to be this awesome word person, so whenever I get showed up, it turns me into a Grinch ;) I've gotten better at hiding it, though. Still learning good sportsmanship, haha!

11. We have this manger. I think I've mentioned this before, but just in case you missed it, I'll just explain it a little. My dad made this manger, and every year at Christmas time, we put it out and put hay in it. It's our reminder that Jesus is coming. On Christmas Day, Jesus is in the manger! We bought this baby doll when I was really little; I don't remember not having it. I think he's beautiful. Maybe I'll post a picture sometime. But anyway, when I was maybe three, I got this baby girl doll for Christmas and named her Maria. I was wide-eyed and so thrilled with her that I ran to Baby Jesus and showed her to him :)

So there are Eleven of Kendra's Kristmas Memories that you could have lived without :) Ah well.

MERRY ELEVEN-DAYS-UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

Retarded Post

The Sweet 16 party was fun :D It was a little awkward getting warmed up to the other girls, but I still had fun :D

I ate strawberry muffins at Emily's house for breakfast.

And I came home.

And I talked to Shang on Facebook.

And I didn't feel like eating lunch.

And I talked to Shang on FB again, lol.

And I did math. I could have done logic, but I didn't.

And I cleaned a lot. BLECK.

And...here I am. I'm going to babysit in an hour. Fun. It's not like I don't want to go, I just don't want to either. Kind of a *shrug* feeling, you know?

I didn't go to the tournament game last night. Or the one today. Ben (The Dare Devil) is going to hate me. Josh (The Nice Guy) will probably be disappointed. I feel like a failure. Crap.

At least Emily liked the card and present I gave her. I actually made a decent-looking card this time. Usually they look like crap.

*sigh* Maybe I'm tired. I got plenty of sleep though. Like seven hours. Which is plenty. Whatever.

I learned some stuff about some people last night that is good news and bad news. So I'm thinking a lot about that. And that's as specific as I want to get. Sorry.

Okay, this is a retarded post. I'll just stop now. Thanks for reading, play practice for the 31st show starts back Monday. Yay? This time when we do the show, it's the last time FOR REAL. Hmm.

I think I'm hungry. I'm going to eat something.

School Schedules. Care to Share?

I've been doing so well in keeping up with my school work that today is barely hard at all :)

I'm curious, though. Every homeschooler's day looks different, and so does every public schooler's. What is a typical day for you? Here's mine:

9:00am: Get up.
9:15: Eat breakfast, read whatever book I'm reading for school.
10:00: Art history. Research, write the paper.
11:30: Read a chapter in "How Shall We Then Live?" and make notes of things to add to my timeline.
12:15: Eat lunch.
12:45: Math.
1:15: Read the chapter in Latin, learn the new grammar rules, make flashcards, and do assigned exercises.
2:15: Read 10 pages or so in biology, add new vocabulary, make notes.
3:15: Read a lesson in logic, do the long, easy, brainless and pointless excercises.
4:00: Work on whatever presentation I'm working on (art grant project, a debate, some other presentation).
4:45: Finished with school! Do chores, and whatever house-cleaning I might have to do.
5:15: Oh sweet freedom. Time to check Facebook, read, write, or blog.
6:00: Dinner.
6:30: Leave for dance, or soccer, or play practice. Whatever it is that night, lol XD
9:30: Get back from dance, or soccer, or play practice. Whatever it is that night.
9:35: Facebook, write, or blog.
10:15: Off the computer, brush teeth, get on pajamas.
10:30: Get in bed and read, write, journal.
11:30: Lights out (usually :)).

And that's a typical day for me. Of course, it varies a little with each day. For instance, I've done all my Latin for this week, so today all I have to do is review. Biology wasn't much today either, and neither was the reading. Then you have those days where you've procrastinated and it takes FORTY TIMES LONGER to do everything :)

We're reading "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens, and I am LOVING it so far. The story is exciting and mysterious, the writing style is interesting but not TOO hard to read, and the dialogue is full of dry humor--my favorite kind :)

Also not on the schedule: MY FRIEND'S SWEET 16 TONIGHT!! How fun is that?? The first Sweet 16 I've ever been invited to. Not that I don't have any friends (lol), most of my friends just haven't started turning 16 yet. This is the girl I mentioned in Awaiting the Sensation of a Short Sharp Shock (Emily) who helped me feel more comfortable with the "popular kids". She's so nice and fun, and I'm really excited about her party tonight! Only two things are "bad" about this:

1. I have a soccer tournament game tonight. Yeah, TOURNAMENT. I missed basically the entire soccer season between the play, being sick, and the DC trip. How SUCKY is that?? I can't believe this! I think my team is mad at me, too :( I went to the game last night, and we lost, so we have to play again tonight (EXACT repeat of last year; it's crazy). But I can't miss this girl's Sweet 16, can I? NO! *sigh* I don't know...
2. The restaurant we're going to has peanuts. I'm definitely worried about getting peanut stuff in my food...Oh well. Hopefully I won't die or something. (I won't die, I might break out in hives and feel bad, though...)

Anyway, back to schedules. What does yours look like? Whether you're public, private, or home schooled, we all have different working styles. Care to share?

A Lame Award and Two Good Newses (Lol XD)

I had a soccer game today. More on that later.
---------------------------
Award Day!!

The I-Know-You-In-Real-Life Award! :D I know, pitifully unoriginal and disappointing. Sorry.

It goes to Cavender, Gracie, Gabrielle, Lizzy, Ellie B, Meggie, Mr. Chris, Tori, David Bailey, Anna Lee, Cassie Roads, Nicole, Lisabailey and Ember! It's great knowing you guys!
----------------------------
So, I had a soccer game today. We played the team with all the really good Mexican kids on it. (I'm not being racist, I'm just saying they're all REALLY GOOD where I live.) It was coached by a college guy named Luis, who's pretty much a soccer legend in my town. I didn't think we would win.

Which is why it surprised me when we did.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I actually did okay this game, too!! Ben (The Dare Devil) even told me I did well, and he never says that unless it's true. Especially at soccer. He doesn't talk to me that much at soccer. So yay!! :)

Lizzy's party was today, but because of the soccer game, I missed pretty much all of it :( Ah well. It's times when she gets all her friends together that I actually like being the oldest. I get a lot of reverent looks from the younger ones when I tell them I'm a sophmore XD

No play practice today, but I have it tomorrow.

OH!! I didn't tell you about Thursday night. Okay, so, Thursday night at play practice, we started at the beginning of the show, and just did it up until a certain point with singing, dancing, lines and everything. My part came. Man, my heart was pounding, but I sang it out. (I actually sing better when I sing loud.) I sounded fine! I was so relieved. The second time through wasn't as good. I got a little nervous for no reason, and I didn't sing very loud, so I couldn't hit some notes :-/

We took a five minute break, and Matt (who's playing Shang, the main guy character) came up to me and told me, "Girl, you can sing! You sound good! You just gotta sing loud."

That made me feel SO GOOD. I was definitely beaming for a while. I was so afraid that I just sounded really bad, but apparently I sound fine. What a relief! And it was nice of Matt to encourage the New Girl.

Sorry. That was random and you probably don't care XD

That's all! Thanks for reading! Bye!

Chinese Culture

Fact or Fiction?

"The Chinese are considering renouncing the one-child law."

Comment. Email. No Google. First one correct gets an award (no longer all who get it correct, sorry :-\).

Oh, yeah, and here's the award from last week that I forgot about XD Cavender and Justagirl4god got it right! (Will a tooth left in Coca-Cola over night disolve? The answer is NO! That's a myth!)

Award:
---------------------------
"Let's get down to business
To defeat the Huns
Did they send me daughters
When I asked for sons?
You're the saddest bunch
I ever met
But you can bet
Before we're through
Mister, I'll make a manout of you
***
(Be a man)
We must be swift asthe coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the forceof a great typhoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as thedark side of the moon!"

I am listening to the Mulan soundtrack for the third time today. I have no idea how, but I'm still not sick of the songs yet...

Favorites:
1. Written in Stone
2. I'll Make a Man Out of You
3. A Girl Worth Fighting For

The way the guys do A Girl Worth Fighting For is hilarious! They do a great job, even with the harmony and stuff. I have no real idea who's reading this, since no one uses their real name, but if any of the guys from the play is reading this, GOOD JOB! XD

School is going okay. I've barely started "Pilgram's Progress", and I need to finish by tomorrow so I can start on the writing assignment: write an allegory. Sounds pretty fun to me. I'm going to try to make mine more subtle than John Bunyan's. *rolls eyes* I mean, really. A guy named Help? Hmm, wonder what he symbolizes...sheesh :P

I've become a little obsessed with Chinese culture. (Gee, wonder why? It can't be the fact that I'm totally EMERSED in it 24/7 because of Mulan, can it? XD) It's so fascinating. Very unfair, but fascinating. I love different cultures, they get my imagination going, and I just love learning about them. Chinese culture is such a good culture to write stories in. It's really sad that you're only allowed to have one child, but it does create an interesting premise for stories.

*frowns at self* Maybe I'm just horrible and unfeeling. Oh dear...

I had lots of crazy dreams last night, but I can't remember them clearly at all. Something about kidnapping and a driveway...lol, no idea!

Dance tonight! And no play practice, so I don't have to miss it.

Lizzy will be THIRTEEN YEARS OLD in TWO DAYS!! :O :O It's freaky enough that Matt ("little brother") just turned thirteen, but Lizzy? That's freakier even still.

He turned eighteen (18) today. :- Wow.

Writing on "Mirror" = zip
Writing on random otherness = some

That's all :D Thanks for reading!

Remembering and Overwhelming

Even before Question Day, I'd like to say something very important:

Eight years ago today, something terrible happened. Evil poluted the minds of some people, and the result was death and destruction for thousands. We can't forget it, no matter how horrible it was.

The more terrible a thing is, the more it needs to be remembered, lest history repeat itself.

So let's all pause a moment and remember. Remember those who died on September 11th.
-----------------------
Question Day:

This question brought to you by: Moon Shaw!

Question: "How many sports do you play?"
Answer: Hmm...WELL >:D

I played T-ball from the time I was four until I was about six, maybe seven.

When I was seven, I started playing soccer, and LOVED it, even though I have won a grand total five games (no joke) in my entire eight year's worth of playing (not counting last year when we were undefeated, lol).

Some of my friends got into tennis when I was like ten, so I played a season of that. Loved it, but I wasn't serious enough to continue with matches and stuff.

At age eleven, I tried out basketball, but since I'd never played before, I had no idea what was going on >.< All my sports knowledge was based on soccer. I never figured out that in basket ball, you play offense AND defense depending on what side of the court you're on.

The spring after that, I did softball. That would have been okay if we had one at least ONE game (we didn't) and our pitchers could get the ball over the plate (they couldn't)...

I've been dancing since I was two and a half.

So, to make a LOOOOOOOOOONG-could-have-been-short and answer short, I play soccer and dance (tap, ballet, and jazz/hip-hop) and I LOVE them both. I would be horrified if I had to chose between them (although dance would win in a heart beat).
----------------------------
I got all my school work (except Latin...) done today! YAY! Latin is killing me. I used to be so good at it! I think I just got too comfortable with it, and stopped working on it. Then all the hard stuff came at once and now I'm so overwhelmed I don't want to start trying again :-/

I have play practice tonight for the first time since Sunday! Yay! And then I have it again tomorrow at 10am. Then I have a soccer game at 2pm.

Then I have play practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Then I have it Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Including on Lizzy's THIRTEENTH birthday, AND her special birthday dinner! *MOAN*

I have so much going on! Soccer practice, dance classes, play practice, soccer games, school, babysitting, writing.

*shriek/moan of agony*

The problem is I LOVE it all! Love it! There's no way at ALL I will EVER give up dance (EVER), and soccer is only for a few weeks. I love the play and I want to do more later. School isn't really a quitable option, lol! I physically CANNOT stop writing, Like, I really CAN'T. Babysitting is so much. I love kids, I love being around lots of friends, and I love having extra "brothers" and "sisters".

*moan*

Sorry. I'm dumping.

No writing to speak of.

Cavender is grounded :(

Byee :D

~Kendra (my signature is being stupid and did something weird that caused this post to be erased FOUR TIMES. Yes. FOUR. You are reading the FIFTH time I have written this same stinkin' thing. FIFTH!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!)

A Faithful Follower and My Call Backs

FIRST: Thanks to Moon Shaw for following!!! You're awesome.
----------------------------------
Second: AWARD DAY!! I will now give an award to a follower. Eventually, everyone should have one.

The first award ever will go to...KREVAN! He hasn't been commenting as much anymore because he's been at his grandparents' house, but in general, he's been one of the most faithful followers and commenters on the blog. Thanks, Krevan, and here's your award for whenever you get back:

Thanks, Krevan!

--------------------------------

Okay, so call backs were today. They went okay. Some good things happened, some okay things.

Good thing: More guys came, so now there are actually around EIGHT instead of THREE. Wow ;)

Good thing: I was asked to read the part of an ancestor, and I loved it. I want to be an ancestor now.

Bad thing: I also had to read the part of a Hun, who has one line (I heard him, too, boss. -.-), and is actually going to be a giant puppet for the play. I would just have to do the voice offstage--a guy voice, of course.

Bad/Good thing: A grand total of 29 people auditioned, and there are a grand total of 30 parts in the play. Yeah; everyone will get to be something. Which means that it's not special at all that I will definitely be in the play. (And if I'm not, it'll be a huge slap in the face and not just a "Sorry, there weren't enough parts", LOL!)

Just a thing: I had to read the part of Mulan's grandmother.

So, over all, I really don't know what to think. I guess I feel a little a little disappointed, but I can't really even put my finger on why...*shrug* I'm still glad I'm doing this, and I'm having fun, don't get me wrong. I guess I'm just starting to wonder if practicing six days a week will be worth it if I'm just an offstage Hun.

I know, I know. No small parts, only small actors. Or actresses :)

Other news: ...

Nothing, really. Lots of chores to do today (BLECK!!), I'm going to try to sit down and write, but we'll see.

Oh, we're going to this guy's surprise party. He's turning 90. Yes, NINTY. I don't HAVE to go, but I think I will. I mean, he's a really sweet old guy apparently, and how many surprise parties for 90-year-olds do you get to go to?

I am inviting all of you to come to mine. When I am ninty, I want to see all of you at my party ;)

I think that's about it...

Character Day! And an Audition Update

It's Character Day just as sure as I'm sitting here in a blue and white striped lounge dress waiting for it to be time to go eat dinner at Chinese for my mom's birthday.

Everyone say happy birthday to my mom! :D
---------------------------
Character Day:

Well, I don't have a lot of time right now (because of going out to dinner), so I can't go into a really deep analysis of anyone. I *can* just tell you a bit about one of my own characters, though. Hmm. Darren or Paige? Darren....or Paige...

I'll go with Paige. I know her better.

11. Eye color: dark blue
12. Facial shape: oval
13. Skin color: Caucasian, slightly pale
14. Height: 5'8"
15. Weight: 127lb

23. Weaknesses: tends to believe what she wants to believe

25. Irritated by: thoughtless arrogance
26. Wants most: to figure her life out
---------------------------
Well, it's after dinner now. I'm kind of hungry right now, though, because I didn't eat dinner.

*sigh* I know, I know. I gotta tell this now :) It's honestly not a very interesting story, lol.

So, some of you know that I'm allergic to peanuts. Anyway, most of the things on the menu at the Chinese were "peanut such-and-such" or "so-and-so with peanut sauce". -.- So I decided not to risk dying and just didn't eat anything, lol! I honestly wasn't hungry anyway, though, and Chinese isn't really my favorite, so that was okay. I got a soft pretzel at Target later.

Ohh, I have some news about the Mulan audition: I'm not singing "It's Over" anymore, although that was really perfect for my vocal range (as I know it, anyway). Matt ("little brother") and Katie ("little sister)'s mom works with a lady named Roxanne, and Roxanne's husband is the one directing Mulan. So, M&K's mom got some more information about the audition for me, and it turns out that I A: should not sing a guy song (not that "It's Over" is anyway), B: should not sing a group song, and C: should sing something Disney-Channel-esque.

While out eating Chinese of Death and poking around at Target, we went to the CD section and I asked a sale's girl about karaoke stuff. (She was kind of funny. Red hair, lots of makeup, it was her first day in the electronics department. She reminds me so much of someone...who is it??)

We ended up buying a Taylor Swift karaoke CD, and I'm going to sing part of "Teardrops on My Guitar". It was the only song on the CD I knew, and it was the only CD we could find. *shrugs* I can sing some of it, so that's good enough for me (and hopefully the audition people...).

Now I just have to learn the lyrics, learn the timing, figure out how long "16 bars" is, pick a section to sing, get used to doing it without her voice, and practice.

By tomorrow.

*GROAN* Kendra, you sure know how to make your life interesting.

But, hey, anything to entertain my followers, right? ;) Haha, no, stuff like this just happens to me naturally ;D And it's usually my own fault. Like now for example.

*sigh* Well, I need to go read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which I'm supposed to finish today. No, I have not started. I have so much to do tomorrow it's not even funny. I maybe be doing some work on the weekend :-/

Well, my mom had a good birthday full of waffles for breakfast, her favorite Mocha Java coffee, turkey-bacon-apple-clubs for lunch, Bath and Body Works stress relief bath salt, Dove dark chocolates, a new lounge, nightgown thing, and dinner at Chinese. Hope she had a good birthday :) I think she did.

Love you, Momma <3 :)

Thanks for reading, y'all :)
